  1. Oh, hope someday there will be a global ranking for stat & biostat.(QS one is for Econ stat) There are still some great schools (European and Asian) which have a high reputation in this filed.
  2. Receiving full fellowship at Cambridge and offer of biostat@Duke today, happy~
  3. I don't know the case of MS, I applied the DPhil before the deadline and had the interview on 15 Dec.
  4. Oh, I really like the interview style of US Univ. When I was interviewed by Oxford and Cambridge for their Ph.D.programs, I was only asked to do an online exam with some very technical math questions, and they simply stared at me during the exam which makes me really nervous...
  5. It's unusual, but how do you score or rank an applicant if they have publications but a normal GPA (e.g. 3.7 rather than 4))? It may be my own feeling but I have seen many top US statistics departments admit students with very high GPA but reject those have decent publications. If the publication is more or less helpful, how do you weight these factors like the impact factor or reputation of the journal?
  6. Has anyone received updates from biostat@UCLA (Ph.D.)? I have seen some posts of reject, but no notification for me...
  7. Still waiting, I just can't figure out the reason...Is that so difficult to release a result? Even a reject is good for us to look for an alternative choice.
  8. I think they require an overall three years of 1st or 1st on your final degree, which might be a condition in the offer if you are selected. (Ps. I thought only Cambridge assigns a separate undergraduate classification for each year's study...) I suggest you refer to the British gradcafe "the student room"... As there should be more people discuss applications in UK.
  9. I received my Part iii offer in early April 2015 (but I suppose they will release result from early Feb.). I think they would not care about the ranking of your univ. if it's a British univ. But you typically need to achieve first (even for Cambridge own undergraduates).
  10. Try Phylogenetics. If you get some sequences of new virus. You can put it into the model (BEAST or RAxML) and take a cup of coffee or have some fun in PUBG, then you have a paper in Nature or Science (at least co-author...)
  11. I think that might be '1point3acres', which is very popular in China...
  12. Yes, my friend, I do have applied UChicago Biostat Ph.D. (if you mean the one public health science). I had the interview on Jan 11. Have you got any updates on this program? It seems that this program is so public health based...
  13. Hi guys, I just got a PhD offer at Cambridge (biostat) and waiting list at Oxford (stat). I got no result from US schools (except a damn reject from UW...). Not sure if I should accept Cambridge (if I go, I think I need postdoc in the US after graduation)... Meanwhile, it's quite surprising that someone has either accepted or rejected at UChicago on Jan 26. Does this mean that those who have no result are waiting listed? Anyway, hope everyone has a good result.
  14. Hi guys. Has anyone heard from Univ of Chicago (Phd in public health science, little information in this forum...)? I had the interview on Jan 11 and no result yet. Also any update from Stanford Epi?
