  1. Hey, I am still doing my undergrad, so different boat than you. I applied to UCalgary, and have been informed that Skype/phone interviews have concluded and POIs ranked applicants. Top 2 or so from each POI has been invited to an Open House in early-Feb. After the Open House, offers of admission will be made. I hope that helps! Best of luck and don't lose hope
  2. Wooot, you're on a rollll best of luck!
  3. Hey, this is my first round applying too (albeit Canadian schools so keep that in mind). I've had two interviews as well, and one led to an acceptance before Christmas (other still pending decision). So it is 100% possible to be accepted first time applying just focus on nailing those interviews - - good luck!!
  4. Heyy I'll be attending as well
  5. I think the best tip anyone has ever given me is to always ensure you have time to take it twice! I didn't plan on taking it twice, but I am SO glad I did! I credit Magoosh for the improved scores! First time: V: 156 - 73rd percentile Q: 151 - 42nd percentile AW: 4.5 - 82nd percentile Second time: V: 161 - 88th percentile Q: 158 - 58th percentile AW: 5.0- 92nd percentile
  6. Hey So as a Psych major, I haven't done math ever since High School. I really liked Magoosh (you can do a free trial, or google for a discount code, there's so many out there); it was especially helpful with the math as it basically re-teaches you all the math you need! Magoosh also has a number of free resources you can google. For example: http://magoosh.resources.s3.amazonaws.com/Magoosh-GRE-Vocab-eBook.pdf I also highly recommend you download the Magoosh GRE flash card app for your phone (free!)--I find this was more helpful than the Magoosh GRE Vocabulary Builder which was multiple choice. Buy: any edition of the official ETS GRE Guide. Made by the test makers, and any edition will do as they don't really change the question much. I found that the Kaplan books were kinda meh from my experience. Their tests also seemed too easy compared to the real GRE. Best of luck!
  7. Head's up for those applying to UCalgary. POIs must submit ranked applicants by Tues afternoon. Top applicants are invited to Open House Feb 8-9, and offers of admission will follow shortly
  8. I didn't apply to UTSC but if it helps I did my interview for Dalhousie even before the application deadline. Maybe they faster this year?
  9. Lol same. Didn't take the psych GRE so that limited my schools I applied to
  10. My first time applying as well! I did an interview in December and wish I came across this sooner: I found this while checking out the 2018 threads, and found these to be similar to the questions I was asked in my interview. Clinical Psychology Potential Interview Questions: http://www2.tulane.edu/sse/psyc/news-and-events/archive/upload/InterviewQuestions.pdf Thought this might be a good starting point!
  11. The Konmari method is amazing haha I'm penning my Undergrad Honours Thesis, prepping for the last semester of undergrad (so closee!!), trying to take my mind off of things with hobbies (painting, writing), and planning my grad trip
  12. Haha thank you ❤️ Crossing my fingers for yaa LOL the POI actually mentioned tomorrow morning, but I figured I need more time for preparation so I'm hoping early next week will do. Thank you so much
  13. School: University of Calgary Type: MSc/PhD Clinical Psychology Date of Invite: January 4/19 Type of invite: Email from POI for Skype/phone interview Interview date(s): Tomorrow LOL or early next week

  15. My first round applying, so I told myself that getting in 1st try is wishful thinking. My plan was to try again next year for Clinical Psych and also apply for Counselling Psych as backup. I was planning on potentially taking a gap year to satisfy my wanderlust, as I rushed through my undergrad. Also planned on working as a lab coordinator/RA at my current labs I figured that working on more research and churning out more publications wouldn't hurt!
  16. My first time applying, so I frantically emailed grad students/profs that I knew for tips about the interviews. Uncommon questions include: What skills do you want to develop? (ie motivational interviewing) **Ensure you read the papers you cited in proposals, etc. B/c they do test for that Do you have a support system/how tied down are you? Hope that helps
  17. (posted this on the Canadian thread, but it should be helpful for y'all as well) Good luck to everyone who has an interview coming up--and for those who are still waiting, don't lose hope yet I found this while checking out the 2018 threads, and found these to be similar to the questions I was asked in my interview. Clinical Psychology Potential Interview Questions: http://www2.tulane.edu/sse/psyc/news-and-events/archive/upload/InterviewQuestions.pdf Thought this might be a good starting point!

  19. Wooot congrats!! Best of luck
  20. Hey, I believe the general consensus is that POIs and the committees prefer you apply for all funding that you qualify for. Not only does that demonstrate tenacity, but it also lessens the financial burden that the universities need to commit to (since there is a minimum level of funding, if students receive other funding that exceeds the minimum, then the less money the uni has to give you). I was informed that applying to the CGS-M assisted in my acceptance at Dalhousie as the Committees like seeing that (albeit it is too early to know about the results of the federal competition). Edit: This is not to say you are not competitive. I would assume fit with professor/lab, what have you, is instrumental as well. This is my first application season so please correct me if I'm wrong!
