  1. Only got the one acceptance (and two waitlists), but luckily it was my top choice! I'm finishing up an MA at Boston College, and I'm thrilled to continue on to their PhD.
  2. Declining waitlist spots at Stony Brook and Fordham. Hope it helps!
  3. I also haven't heard anything from DePaul. I assume it's a rejection, but I solicited today and was told that they haven't received word from the admission committee yet.
  4. I can completely relate to this. From around the end of January through a couple of weeks ago I had a persistent eyelid twitch. It disappeared as soon as I got my first acceptance notification...
  5. Hmm, speak of the devil - just got my McGill rejection!
  6. I am in limbo at McGill, Fordham, and BU. No word at all. Anyone else?
  7. Congrats! How did you hear? Also, can anyone claim the Fordham acceptance?
  8. I did a Skype interview a couple of weeks ago (and since received an offer from that institution) and this is what I noticed after the fact - it is incredibly easy to ramble because you don't know when you've sufficiently answered their question. But I'd also say that you don't have to worry too much about delving into your research / potential project. I could tell that my interviewers (about six people at once) had specific issues they wanted to cover, but they also wanted to get a general sense of your personality: Are you someone they'd get along with? Would you be decent in a classroom? Would you fit the department from a social and not merely academic perspective?
  9. I've actually been told (by a faculty member on an admissions committee) that it can be helpful to state your openness to jobs outside of academia because it demonstrates that you know how competitive the TT job market is.
  10. Yeah, that's understandable. I'm in a very continental department, and my fellows are usually quite fair to analytics as well - I think the "debate" is significantly less of a thing than it was 10-20 years ago.
  11. Only speaking from experience (ie. things analytics have said to me, someone who does continental philosophy)!
  12. I don't know, maybe more: "analytics are philosophers who deny that there's an analytic/continental distinction [because they don't think continental philosophy is philosophy at all].
  13. For what it's worth, Gonzaga University has a terminal MA in Philosophy that is pretty good for continental philosophy. It's not fully funded, but it has many more opportunities for funding / assistantships / financial aid / etc. than most Philosophy MAs. https://www.gonzaga.edu/college-of-arts-sciences/departments/philosophy/graduate-program/ma-admissions
  14. Thank you! I'm still waiting to hear about my other two top choices. This waiting game is brutal...
  15. That one is mine! I'm not sure if they've sent all their acceptances out yet, but I know the list has been finalized (for PhD - not sure about MA).
