    Did anyone receive an acceptance from University of Illinois, Urbana-Champagne? I took part in their Aspire-Illinois summer program.

    I know some people have reported that Ohio State has started to release acceptances. But I am nervously waiting for some of my programs. In the mean time I check my email every two minutes lol.

    oh dang it but thank you for the insight. Me and my partner don't own a car we walk or bike everywhere. (we live in the East Bay/SF area)

    I also doubt universities will be releasing decisions early.

    Getting an MA is the best bet to help bolster your profile.

    I have heard great things about the Texas Tech program. I am currently in SFSU's MA program.

    Has the visa process changed from the same time last year? I have some international friends who had to return home due to the terms of their visa.

    I would say go with your gut choice since you can really determine overall fit of the programs.

    I've heard so many different ways to evaluate applicants from this website and many other. But at this point to pin down what is an effective sample would be nothing but hearsay.

    Most programs do not fully read your writing, they simply have keywords at mind when weeding through hundreds of samples.

    You have a great profile that will help you stand out in the programs you applied. I do not think there is enough predictability in knowing what counts as a safe school.

    Check if your home universities format them in the american english standard. I had a friend from Finland who was able to do this. I am also sorry for the extra hurdle.

    Are there any places where I should avoid (Gay man with a trans masculine husband)? I have applied to schools in Boston, Champaign-Urbana, West Lafayette, Binghamtom, Pittsburgh, and Nashville.

    I'm applying to a few phd programs as I wrap up my MA. But my husband is working on his BA in nursing, I was wondering if there are benefits provided to my husband from the university I ultimately chose to attend? I'm just curious since he would like to finish his studies where I would be located.

    You can backout most offers but you may lose your deposit if they ask for one.
