I was expecting to see a disappointing financial aid offer if admitted but it doesn't make it easier. The tuition costs are definitely a tough pill to swallow though (esp. compared to my other offers which allow me to attend Sanford / Harris / Heinz for 20-40K total). I know it would be a crazy financial decision but I'm not willing to drop HKS from the list just yet. Anyone else in the same boat and considering taking on this much debt for the opportunity to study at Harvard?

Same. This is making my decision very difficult.

In at MPP, but no funding too. I saw this article on The Crimson that HKS had raised hundreds of millions of dollars for financial aid, so I had a small hope that this year would be different. So disappointing.

We can still apply for the JJWBGSP scholarships right now, right? It says that the deadline for the scholarship is April 15th if I remember correctly.

Anyone know the procedure for that?

There are two process: the partnership (in which the school nominates you) and the preferred program (in which you apply by yourself). The deadline is April 11th, here is the link: http://www.worldbank.org/en/programs/scholarships#3

Is it only for people from developing countries, right?

Thanks alot for this! Any idea when results are usually out for this?

I already have an offer from Duke (2/3 scholarship) and I want to apply for the JJWB too. But I'm guessing if I want to proceed with the JJ, i have to say no to Duke right? And then hope that I get the world bank scholarship in the future. Is that how this works?

Hi leafsixnorth, I am also waitlisted (for the MC/MPA). You? Indeed, any information (waitlist pool, chances, etc.)  would be helpful.

Where else did you apply/receive offers? I am in at Fletcher/MA and McCourt/MPM and waiting for Yale/MAS.

Has anybody here actually received the JJWBGSP? I got nominated, got admitted into the MPAID but haven't yet received any notification from the WB

Same here. I assume it means that I was not selected

Wow I got the public service scholarship! I am befuddled... and puts it in real competiton with wws. can’t wait for the open house!

Congratulations!!! What an amazing honor! Would you mind sharing your app stats at some point? I'm a 2020 or 2021 hopeful with exclusively public service experience, so this scholarship is on my radar. :)

No :( But information should be in your MYFAID portal since yesterday.

I contacted Katherine and she told me the following "The World Bank decisions have been made and have been released into the MYFAID system."

Waitlister here. Anyone know how many get waitlisted or how many get in from the waitlist? Admissions blog doesn’t make it sound very likely.

Also waitlisted. What program did you apply to? Do you know when we can expect to hear back? Scrambling hard to find stats about waitlist conversions, but please let me know if you hear anything.

I applied to the MPP - you? All they seem to indicate at this stage is late April or early May (not ideal considering the timing of responses to other offers). Haven’t been able to find any stats.

Any international students here considering a loan? I am confused as they write things like "Additional information on specific loan programs will be provided during the summer" and that loans for international students are limited. But how can I accept if I am not sure that I am having a loan? Am I missing something here?

I applied for two schools LKY and HKS. HKS- Not made it, LKY-Waiting to hear. Iam an MPA applicant with 14 yrs of experience in Financial Inclusion space in India.

Financial aid information for individuals who are under consideration for admission to the Harvard Business School will be available at the end of March. Otherwise, If you do not see an “Awards/Loan Eligibility” link in your MYFAID menu options, unfortunately this means we were not able to offer you assistance. Please review your “Important Information/Messages” MYFAID page for important information.

Have any joint MBA/MPP applicants seen an update on the MYFAID? Mine still isn't showing "Awards/Loan Eligibility" but I don't know if that's because it hasn't been updated or I didn't receive anything!

Same. No update.

Anyone else on here trying to decide between HKS and WWS? Kennedy would cost me ~$18k/year (offered a stipend that wouldn't fully cover living expenses), which is doable but would deplete a lot of my savings, while WWS would be completely free.

Pros for HKS:

  • As someone who's eventually hoping to work in human rights advocacy, I really like the idea of being able to work with/attend events by the Carr Center, and HKS offers a lot of courses focused on human rights (WWS offers a single class on the topic)
  • They have a much broader range of classes; WWS's curriculum is much more limited because it's such a small program
  • In terms of day-to-day living, I think I'd prefer living in Cambridge to the New Jersey suburbs (I grew up in MA so I already know I like the area) - and if I want to intern at local nonprofits, it'd be a lot easier to get to them

Pros for WWS:

  • The additional funding would make it super hard to turn this down. I wouldn't have to spend any savings, and I could afford to live on my own and get a car (which would make it easier to deal with living in suburbia)
  • The community seems incredible, with the administration and professors really invested in their students' success
  • I want to explore the multilateral sector, so being in Princeton would allow me to intern at a UN agency in NYC during the year relatively easily (it'd be a rough commute of about 2 hours each way, but if I was only going in 2 days a week it would be doable)

I'll be going to both admitted students days, so hopefully that'll help me decide. In the meantime (because I can't stop stressing even when I know I'll have more information within a week or two), I'd love to hear any of your thoughts on what factors I should be weighing the most!
