Deadline to accept is April 1 so I'm guessing another round of offers will go out around that time. I have also applied to UVic, SFU and USask; I haven't heard back from any of the others yet. Congratulations! Do you mind sharing your profile with us?

Graduated BSc Honours Biology at UCalgary (GPA: 3.61/4) then went on to do a MSc in Biology at UBC (GPA: 4.0) where I won a pretty good research grant and presented at 2 conferences. I was an aspiring med student during my undergrad so my volunteer experience is copious, but is mostly in primary care/speaking as opposed to public health: - Medical First Responder with St John Ambulance as well as a student-run team at Ucalgary - Volunteered at a Hospice House for about a year - Taught classes on science/evolution at churches in my area (it's a long story haha) - Co-founded a podcast that critically analyzes social and societal phenomena - 3+ years as a research assistant throughout my Master's and undergrad - Student rep in residence during my undergrad - Volunteer at the local homeless shelter where I also work closely with the supervisor to develop training standards for staff and other volunteers Reference letters I think were another big help for me: - My supervisor who happens to be an associate VP of Research at UBC - My lab manager who knows me very well and is now an associate professor - The supervisor at the homeless shelter with whom I have been developing training standards I have a feeling the MSc was pretty important because I was required to complete and successfully defend a thesis in the field of neuroscience. I also in final drafts of publishing a paper from my results. This shows a pretty strong research and statistics background. Let me know if you have any other questions! zainnnny 1

That looks fantastic and congratulations. When exactly did you get your acceptance? Was it by email? Mail? On the Grad portal?

On the Grad portal? Thank you! I received acceptance today about 4 hours ago. I was notified of my offer of admission via e-mail and was directed to the Grad portal for more information and to accept the offer. In looking at the admission stats from previous years at UBC, it looks like the offer admission in many round considering they gave out 56 offers last year but only had 26 new registrations.

Oh no way! I was obsessively checking my portal as soon as you mentioned your offer of admission arrived to see if I missed any notifications, acceptance or rejection. Seems like it's still showing in progress. Will stay waiting!

bmph23 Posted March 10, 2020 Posted March 10, 2020 (edited) Hi all, just wanted to say that I wouldn't start to worry yet! It's my first time applying to MPH programs too, but it is still early! I think that Alberta might just be a bit behind this year. I applied to the Health Promotion on campus stream and haven't heard yet. I think some streams might be a bit later to get back to us due to more applicants in streams like Health Management/HP. Sit tight and don't stress too much! Edited March 10, 2020 by bmph23

Which all schools have you applied to apart from Queens? I heard that two years ago they released decisions on March 1st and last year on March 19th so I’ve been checking my application status ALL THE TIME Because I’m super passionate about clinical work and knowledge transmission, I also applied to genetic counselling at Université de Montréal! I applied to Global Health at McMaster as well. What about you?

Mine was in the pre-screening for probably like a couple days. It's been stuck at "Under Review" for ages.
