Congrats to all the new acceptances!! so so exciting to hear about everyone

I'm kind of stressing out - I'm traveling abroad rn and my American phone is turned off. A lot of the programs seem to be making phone calls - do you think it matters if they can't reach me? I'm afraid that even if I'm accepted they'll give my place to someone else... Or that they'll think that I lied about my phone number, IDK, my stress-brain is weird haha

Hey I am 100% sure no such thing will happen. They will leave you a voicemail and/or Email. Plenty of people don't answer their phone

I hope you hear good news as well. For what its worth, the status still says "in progress" and I was told it ill take 1-2 more days to process everything.

Thank you so much @Ydrl.....! I haven't told anyone in real life that I was applying (except for my kind recommenders) and this has been my support group, essentially!

Now see, I did the opposite, I talked up Iowa a whole bunch and told almost everyone. Since I haven’t gotten into any schools yet, I feel like an idiot.

Btw, I've begun translating a really great novella as a way to distract myself from pending results. It's nice to be getting back to something that's writing-adjacent!

I got the idea from someone here ( @Ydrl I think?) who wrote that they're beginning to write a fantasy novel while waiting. Thanks for the inspiration!!

Yeah, I’m attempting to construct a complete timeline for the novel I’m writing and my brain is melting. I gotta admire all the fiction writers who want to write a novel.

I also fear missing a call means I’ll be denied admission, but that’s not how it works!

I told a lot of people too. I also told folks that the programs are competitive and I might not get in, but I feel foolish all the same.

Choosing to de-lurk and congratulate @rbr542 for the brilliant news. I applied to only top 5 prgs...everything seems like a long shot but this group has been giving me all good vibes. Haven't heard from Iowa yet, but so great to see one of you got through. Makes me think, yes it is possible...maybe next time for me...congrats again.

Yes, and it's the only school I've heard back from thus far (although Hollins and VT don't normally notify until late February). I really like that it's a three year program, and it's the closest to home/friends out of the places I applied.

I was about to ask the same. I think historically they notify over the course of a week. My understanding is that they are behind schedule this year and just began yesterday, so we may have a few more days of hope left.

But I want to sob into a chocolate cake due to my pessimism.

I was going to ask the same. Start loosing hope already and cannot stop looking at my inbox all the time. Never been ever so unproductive. :-ss
