anyone have any intel on UW (University of Washington, Seattle) for poetry? Anyone know if they're accepting/rejecting the offer? Any waitlisters who are taking themselves off the list or holding out hope?

hi! i am on the waitlist and when i asked the director of cw they said that they were expecting movement soon, so i am holding out hope (perhaps foolishly)

Spoke to a director today who said admitted students have been really slow to respond for some reason this year— so don’t give up hope!

Hey guys, new to this site. Really great to find a community of anxious applicants to commiserate with.

I'm a poet, and I received word that I was waitlisted for NYU on Tuesday. I've been rejected from Iowa, The Michener Center (number one choice, I've worked with Dean Young all year as an undergrad and it's been incredible ?), Oregon, and I still haven't heard anything back from Boston.

I've been lurking on this thread, but it's really long; does anybody have any insight on the NYU waitlist? When do you think we'll hear back? And I've seen some people mention Boston has started sending acceptance letters -- anybody been rejected yet?

Thanks, and godspeed, everyone.

I emailed BU and they got back to me today saying they are not done notifying poetry acceptances but should be done by the end of the month. I am also waiting!

I hope we get news soon so I can expedite this grieving process lol

Do you have a fallback option if UW doesn't work out? I am waiting on two more schools, but not feeling very hopeful. Got accepted to one program but will prob turn down due to limited funding.

I'm glad I can help you hash it out! And that's true, we really can't take anything for granted...

I hope you're able to work something out, and let us know what you decide! At the very least, you can rest easy knowing that you'll definitely be attending a program this fall.

thanks. by the way I am not too sure schools will open this fall

Is anyone still waiting for Columbia fiction results? Has anyone contacted them to ask when they'll be out?

It seems like acceptances are coming out in waves. Since they've already sent out some acceptances and rejections, I'd say you're not out of the running yet. Sorry if that's all old news.

That's great news, I suppose -- thanks for the update!

Any idea if it's the same for poetry?

Based on what I'm seeing, yes. On the Results page, there are three acceptances: 3/5, 3/11, 3/15. They seem to be notifying by phone, so that could account for the spread.

For the record, I haven't applied to Columbia and have no "inside info." This is just what I've seen here and on Draft.

Got into Chapman for poetry!!! 5a/1w/4r/5p :) Waiting on Columbia, UC Riverside, UC Irvine, Purdue, and Arizona State (although I know I am most pretty much waiting on rejections from the last three, if not all five haha). Five acceptances feels like a dream though ?

Poetry acceptance letter came from Columbia today YAY! Even more expensive than I had recalled from looking at tuition tables in the fall, BOO!

I had been called last week which was wonderful. I was so excited to hear in person from Dorothea, as I love her work and lectures (online), but I now may most likely be at Brooklyn college as the economy is so uncertain the likelihood of well paid jobs to pay off a loan debt no longer make sense.  Fingers crossed, we can recover enough from CoronaVirus to have schools open in Sept.

Does anyone know anything about Indiana? It’s my last one, so I’d like to find out already. I saw there are some acceptances/waitlist from weeks/months ago, but I’ve checked my portal multiple times and still haven’t seen a rejection or anything. Kind of a dick move to make me sit here for a month or more if I’m just getting rejected.

Hey all, longtime lurker here. This is my third year applying. First year got accepted to Temple and CalArts, but didn't end up going. Second year, rejections across the board. This year... By last week, so far I had all rejections except for two waitlists (UMN and Rutgers-Newark), and I was starting to get really really worried. Plus I've been going through a pretty intense depressive episode for a while and haven't been able to write.

Then while I was in the middle of a political event, where I was acting as a legal observer for NLG, I got a call from Columbia. I'm in! Of course I immediately started doubting it, going so far as to question whether it's even a good program. Because I couldn't believe it, couldn't believe that something might have actually worked out after all of the disappointment. Obviously I'm not out of the woods yet, as I need to worry about funding and whatnot, but from what I understand I can basically just keep pushing them until the acceptance deadline. Anyway, so maybe that will work out, but now with the quarantine and everything that's going on, wow what the fuck is going to happen?!?! Are we even gonna be able to go in the fall????

Is anyone else having trouble believing this is even real?

Congratulations on your acceptance and waitlists! Columbia's funding situation is tricky, but you're lucky that your waitlists are both well-funded.

And truly, you should feel proud of your results. From my layman's perspective, I'd say that getting a waitlist from Rutgers might be harder than an acceptance from Columbia. That program is crazy competitive.

I’d really like to email the programs I am waiting on to see if I can get concrete answers so I can accept one of my other offers, but I’m so anxious about it. Does anyone have any advice or a template they’ve used to inquire?

Is that another forum site with more information??
