Hi all!

I stumbled across this yesterday night and was up till 4am reading.

Congratulations to all the acceptances!!

And

Rejections suck and I am sorry to everyone who has gotten them.

To be honest I was a little naive when applying to schools. I don't think I understood how competitive creative writing MFA programs were. Not that I didn't know they were competitive. More like I didn't get *how* competitive. Ha.

Anyways, at the start of this I thought I was going to apply to five schools and then slowly just...stopped. I only submitted one application y'all and now I'm about to lay a brick with anxiety. ???

I have a back up plan though, so if I'm rejected then I'm moving in a different direction. I just don't have endless cash to keep blowing on applications to be rejected in the end. Sigh. My pessimism is really taking over here. Lolol

I feel the same. I ended up applying to five schools, but all of them hyper competitive w/d less than 1% chance of admission, severely underestimating how competitive it actually is. We can only hope to keep writing even without success in MFA apps. What else.

Hi everybody! ? I've been shyly following this forum for a while now, and I've decided it's time to step out of the shadows.

In response, I wanted to share this article about Robin Benway. https://www.bustle.com/p/author-robin-benway-was-rejected-from-every-mfa-program-she-applied-to-now-shes-a-national-book-award-finalist-3232221   I know that not everyone would want to make the jump to YA fiction, but I think it's admirable that she was able to be flexible, and I thought it was an inspiring article.

Oh for sure, still write!

I'll have to do it in between studying though lolol. I've applied to get my second bachelor's degree as well so either way going back to school in the fall. Lol

I might be alone in this but I just want to hear from Brown already. I'm also hoping that if I get accepted somewhere they'll email instead of call. Still  waiting to hear from all my schools. I haven't seen them notify anyone yet. Guess that means I still be hopeful.

I'm in the same boat as you!

Did anyone receive a Michener email to check their portal? Someone in Draft got one, but no update on their status. I checked mine as well, and it still says "In Review."

Anyone else's anxiety especially bad today? Like I feel a sequel to Friday's Bloodbath coming on.

Mine. So bad. Michigan and Iowa might be out today. I’ve begun looking up current students in order to compare their writing to mine. ?

I hope Iowa's poetry comes out at a similar time as fiction this year. I know I've given up, but I still want to know.

the fact that Michigan has notified via email in the past is what's killing me. at least when a program calls, you can live your life (while double-checking your phone is on loud every 30 seconds) but now I'm just sitting here refreshing refreshing refreshing...

truly never been so unproductive hahah

Today’s a federal holiday, so schools won’t be open, right? Seems like none of us should hear today.

Most universities aren't closed today. So i’m thinking we might hear.

Anyone have more insight on University of Oregon? Apparently they are accepting five poets (only seen one acceptance on draft -- none on gradcafe unless buried) and then I saw a poetry waitlist on draft as well. Time to let myself down gently or are they known for staggering and waves?

Congrats to those who were accepted/waitlisted!
