doctoralgrad23 Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 (edited) Virginia is good for IR. You sure you dont want to apply for American or Georgetown? It seems like your targeting DC and Florida. Since you have a scholarship I would possibly try for those two also. I am gonna study on IR theory(mostly realist) and What do you think of Delaware(stuart kaufmann, robert denemark), Syracuse(colin elman) and Illinois( John A. Vasquez), Maryland, Johns Hopkins(daniel deudney), Vanderbilt and UMass? Edited December 12, 2012 by doctoralgrad23
ThisGuyRiteHere Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 Does Delaware place people? Delaware's placement isnt great...UMass places better, i believe.

zzzzzz Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 well friends, just applied to ten schools. I guess we wait til early february or something now?
balledematch Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 Hey Team, Just got all my apps sent in, and my rec's are all submitted. Big relief, but now just starting to worry about the results! Looking forward to good banter on here, and hopefully a lot of good news for everyone in a couple months!
ThisGuyRiteHere Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 Hey Team, Just got all my apps sent in, and my rec's are all submitted. Big relief, but now just starting to worry about the results! Looking forward to good banter on here, and hopefully a lot of good news for everyone in a couple months! Thirteen schools. You should get one at least. Hopefully you applied to a good range of schools to ensure that.
ThisGuyRiteHere Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 I think im in deliberation at one school. I was asked for info for my application and then they just went dark; no more responses :/
Penelope Higgins Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 No admissions committees are doing anything this week or next. Professors are either grading exams or already on vacation. Everywhere has "gone dark" until the New Year.
Tupamaros Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 I think im in deliberation at one school. I was asked for info for my application and then they just went dark; no more responses :/ Hope that's a good sign! I would guess the admissions committees will meet briefly before the Xmas break, and then resume in early January?
balledematch Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 Thirteen schools. You should get one at least. Hopefully you applied to a good range of schools to ensure that. I did apply to a fairly large range. Was shut out last year, so like to think I really benefited from the "experience."
zzzzzz Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 I did four because of a really stupid thing that happened where a professor who I didn't ask for a rec assumed that she was writing one for me, and I felt awkward. hopefully this won't hurt me THAT much.
ThisGuyRiteHere Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 I have 5 for one school. I was told by some of my recommenders they were out of the country...so i got someone i know (fellow student) to write one...then all the profs sent their recs in so I have 4 & 5 at some places. mostly 3 tho
ThisGuyRiteHere Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 Oh I pulled a 4.0 this semester..including a graduate stat class...hopefully thats enough to push me over the line!
chaetzli Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 Since I am reapplying to some schools, I had to add a new letter. I didn't want to substitute one of the other letters and thus I submitted four recs. I hope they will read all of them... gradcafe26 1
