Hi everyone!

I decided to start a forum for those who applied to Canadian schools. I applied to York and Ryerson for an MA in Clinical Psych and U of T for an MA in Experimental Psych.

So far I've heard back from Ryerson for an interview (2 days ago on January 28th 2013).

Has anyone heard anything from other Canadian schools?

I applied to York too! But no, I haven't heard anything. They are very near the top of my list though, so I would love to hear something.

I applied to McGill for a PhD in social/personality, Saskatchewan for an MA in applied social, and UVic for an Msc in social. So far I have only had informal contact with McGill and the POI at UVic asked me to resend my GRE scores. Other than that I haven't heard anything.

McGill will have "unofficially" made all decisions made by February 8th (date of final faculty meeting)

Thanks for the info! I have a phone meeting with my POI tomorrow to discuss my ranking/chances of getting in. Hopefully it goes well, as it is one of my top choices...

I applied to University of Toronto for the PhD Developmental Psychology and Education program...I have no idea when I will start hearing back.  That "under review" status on my application has been taunting me...

I heard back from SFU (MA clinical) last Thursday about interviews. I haven't heard back from any of the other schools that I've applied to yet (Saskatchewan, UBCO, and Carleton).

I heard back from Ryerson, Dalhousie, and UNB for interviews so far (all clinical programs).

I have meetings at York the week after next. They don't seem to have a formal recruitment weekend or anything (I actually got to pick the dates of my visit myself), so for those still waiting to hear from them, I wouldn't be too concerned just yet.

The only other school I applied to that I have yet to hear from that hasn't already been addressed in this thread is Manitoba, and their application webpage suggests they're still doing preliminary evaluation.

Is just for PhD or MA as well?

My POI told me that he would call me after this meeting on the 8th to let me know the results. So, I imagine others would hear back sometime the following week, unless the profs hold off until funding is determined (which I was told, for me at least, would be toward the end of feb. - early march).

Just got good news! I applied to York Clin. Dev. Psych Masters.  and my POI emailed me on Jan 30. We had an interview on Feb 1, and I was invited to the department open house and info session on Feb 15th... crossing my fingers, he says I should find out officially whether I've been accepted after the open house happens.

Do you know if the open house is only for the clinical developmental program or for all of the psychology programs?

I talked to my POI in the fall and she said that funding was difficult for American students, so that might be why I haven't heard back.

Posted

Has anyone received any type of correspondence (i.e., scheduling interviews, open house days, the acceptance timeline, etc.) from OISE, University of Guelph, or University of Ottawa?

Thanks very much to all.

Hello all.  I am an American student who has applied to McGill's PhD program in Counselling Psychology. Anyone else out there looking at this particular program?  Anyone know anything about when decisions might be made?  I haven't heard anything yet, my status still reads "Ready for Review."  I will post if I get any information and if others would do the same that would be just wonderful. Thanks !

the open house is only for the Clinical and Clinical Developmental Programs only. I dont know about the other programs, they are run by a completely different acceptance committee... Sorry :( good luck though!

No that's totally fine! I would rather not be sure than know that I didn't get an interview for sure haha. Holding onto that little bit of hope.

I was contacted by Ryerson for an interview a few weeks ago, also heard from Saskatchewan but only regarding my funding status. Still nothing from several other schools, it's still pretty early for a lot of the Canadian ones, but I know a few people who got contacted by Western Ontario and SFU already. Good luck everyone!

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that my POI at McGill said that they (although I can only speak from the social perspective) were trying to get a head start before other Canadian schools. So, as CBrown said, it's apparently still pretty early.

I was contacted by Ryerson and Guelph a couple weeks ago for interviews. I know that not all faculty at Ryerson have reviewed applications at this point, though. I believe Guelph will be making decisions shortly. No word from anywhere else. Still too early in the game, so stay positive!
