123hardasABC Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 It's been so quiet lately on the public health front.... It seems like responses are coming in for other programs, while it's absolutely silent here
GradSchooler Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 Yes! So miserably quiet. And I've caught some sort of flu but instead of resting I keep waking up thinking about grad school and checking these boards. Fingers crossed that we get our turn with a bunch of (hopefully good) news soon. Good luck to everyone who is getting a lesson in patience!
faithfullywaiting Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 It will probably quiet over here until late february.....

misskitty33 Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Not a thing since they said they forwarded my app to my first department for review. The wait is excruciating. What program are you applying to? anyone hear anything from emory yet?
123hardasABC Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 I got two emails from Emory today. It was only an invitation to their upcoming info session thingy....but it made my heart jump out of my chest nonetheless. I really need to calm down....
Lynne88 Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 (edited) I got two emails from Emory today. It was only an invitation to their upcoming info session thingy....but it made my heart jump out of my chest nonetheless. I really need to calm down.... I have a feeling that we'll hear back from Emory by the end of this week or next week. I saw on the results page that someone was not accepted into Emory’s Epi PhD program - which is unfortunate because I know how tough rejections can be, but at least we know that they're actually reviewing the applications now and making decisions. I know the wait is tough, but I’m hopeful that it will be over soon! Edited January 14, 2014 by Lynne88
katethekitcat Posted January 14, 2014 Author Posted January 14, 2014 I'm terrified to ask this question because I'm afraid the question will be "yes," but, lurkers: has anyone heard from the Health Studies department at the University of Chicago? In past years, it looks like interview invites went out anytime between early January and mid-February.

Hopefully we'll find out soon! And for those who were also accepted to BU early (end of Nov/early Dec), did you guys get your acceptance packages yet?
katethekitcat Posted January 14, 2014 Author Posted January 14, 2014 And for those who were also accepted to BU early (end of Nov/early Dec), did you guys get your acceptance packages yet? All I've received is the initial acceptance e-mail.
Methylmadness Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 I was just sent an email for an interview for BU EHS PhD.

123hardasABC Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 I don't know how many of you applied to NYU, but this just happened.... "Due to some technical complexities, our review process this year has been somewhat delayed" Wtf are "technical complexities"?
Lynne88 Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 All I've received is the initial acceptance e-mail. I haven't received anything else from BU either
123hardasABC Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Err, I only ask because the results search has some BU acceptances who are getting things mailed to them.
epikid2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 I don't know how many of you applied to NYU, but this just happened.... "Due to some technical complexities, our review process this year has been somewhat delayed" Wtf are "technical complexities"? It's probably that it's there first year using SOPHAS - I got the same email and I applied in October
katethekitcat Posted January 15, 2014 Author Posted January 15, 2014 Err, I only ask because the results search has some BU acceptances who are getting things mailed to them. I'm not seeing those. Whenever it's mentioned, it's in quotes or indicates that mail is GOING to come. I'm not worried - the initial e-mail said mid-January, which means that's probably when they'll start sending stuff out. Also, I'm highly suspicious "package" includes anythign but brochures and how to accept. I do not expect much financial aid.

I was one of the early acceptances (December) and I also live in New England, so not far from BU. Best part was the $15K merit award I got!!

katethekitcat Posted January 16, 2014 Author Posted January 16, 2014 I just got rejected (via postal service) by the U of Minnesota Epi department. Considering a.) I was already accepted to the environmental science department b.) did not apply to th epi department, I cannot consider myself very disheartened by this setback.

You got rejected from a program you didn't apply to? I'm...impressed actually...... Congrats? I think? On another note, for those who applied to Emory, on OPUS there's an option to pay your admission deposit even though decisions haven't been made yet. I thought that was kinda interesting.

Where do you see that at? I don't see it on my OPUS. Also, what program did you apply to??
