ramasaid Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 I haven't geared from queens or mcgill economic departments yet, does this mean I am rejected
poliscilady Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 I haven't geared from queens or mcgill economic departments yet, does this mean I am rejected Queen's has sent out Economic offers already. Typically Queen's won't start sending out rejections until people accept/decline their offers and spots fill up or they need to send out another round of offers. I would email or call the department and just inquire - nothing wrong in asking.
Slutsky_Walrus Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 I haven't geared from queens or mcgill economic departments yet, does this mean I am rejected Just adding some info, queens is supposed to be sending out second round offers this week. I'm not hopeful on too many people rejecting first round offers for queens though
ramasaid Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 Thanks for the info, I asked in queens 2nd week of March and the reply was we are proscessing applications , will email you as soon as a decsion is made by maximum end of March,, don't want to be nagging and ask again.. Don't have much hope now
Naamoose Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 I was accepted at U of T! What a relief! I called to ask when second round offers would be out, they took down my name, and I got an e-mail of acceptance shortly after. I'm so excited! Chychy 1
dhg12 Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Accepted my offer from Western today! Really excited to be going to London in the fall, such a good fit!
worrypower Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Got an acceptance from Concordia. anyone else headed there? i know nothing about flat hunting in Montreal. Montreal has lots of great places to live if you're willing to live a little further than walking distance from the university. (In your case, outside the "Concordia bubble.") Try looking near Atwater Metro and Lionel-Groulx; they're only a few minutes from Concordia's main campus and the rent is much more affordable then nearer.

Who did you have to call in order to get that information? Any chance you could pass that number along? I'm thinking I might do the same myself tomorrow, haha

Lit Diva Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 The freak outs are getting more frequent. I emailed both Mcgill and UBC just to check in and to know when to expect to hear back - UBC replied saying by the end of the month, Mcgill still hasn't replied to anything. I saw on the results page that someone else contacted UBC and was told that they'd been accepted directly by the same person who replied to my email. With McGill, my applications do still say "In Review" on the online system but I'm pretty sure everyone who has gotten in has already heard back from them. It's not that Concordia isn't a good school, but I definitely only applied there as a safety. My GPA is decent (3.76) and I am extremely involved with my university community in areas that are directly linked to what I want to research. I want to research, in simple terms, on the intersection of queer and canadian identities in contemporary canadian literature. I've been the admin of the university's on-campus queer resource centre and safe space for the past two years, I'm a poetry editor for the english undergrad departmental journal, I'm a trained workshop facilitator, and I founded a journal of queer literature and arts just over a year ago (that I'm also the editor in chief for). I definitely had good recommendations and had several people look over my SoP. I don't know what I've done wrong. ahhh. I'm just a sad, anxious kitten. I also have to give Concordia my answer by the 1st. /endrant =C I haven't heard back from ubc either and it's driving me crazy. I emailed them on Thursday and have heard nothing still. I already got accepted into sfu with strong funding, and I am thinking of just accepting that so I can be done with the waiting already. My nerves can't take it.

I'm thinking I might do the same myself tomorrow, haha I called the general number on the website. I think that's the woman who also sent me the e-mail. Her name is Tania and her number is 416 978 5120. The person she said I should actually talk to was named Anita (initially she said she's be calling me back but then I got an e-mail instead), and she's cc'd on the e-mail I was sent, but I don't know what her number is. Good luck!

holdsteady Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Those waiting to hear back from UBC English should probably ask specifically about their application status and give their student number.
rzl2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Hey, anyone applied UofT IHPME? MSc in HSR? Got anything back? Waiting is so brutal!
Lit Diva Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 (edited) Those waiting to hear back from UBC English should probably ask specifically about their application status and give their student number. I did ask specifically about my application status. I wonder if I emailed the right person (grad program administrator). I only got an automated response. Who did other people email? They hadn't sent my offer, which is dated March 10th, because it was accidentally put in the wrong file (!). I can't guarantee that you or violetpanic will have gotten in, but you might be in a similar situation. Edited March 19, 2014 by holdsteady
CLCN Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Anybody heard from the anthro dept. at uoft yet (besides the one person that has been accepted)? the wait is killer!
Canis Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Anybody heard from the anthro dept. at uoft yet (besides the one person that has been accepted)? the wait is killer! For MA or PhD? I got my PhD rejection already along with quite a few others.
CLCN Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Should have specified -- for the MA/MSc track. I heard decisions will be coming out Mon/Tues however there are some current offers that will be expiring for me quite soon so I would like to know if I should consider uoft or not. Anybody else on whats going on over there, feel free to pm me!
CLCN Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 I would feel slightly strange asking them to hurry up their decision though, haha. What should I say if I were to e-mail them, and where exactly would I e-mail? Sent you a PM!
Aski Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 UofT MPP and UVic MPA first round acceptances went out last week. Except for those applying for the online stream, I received an email today that stated those applications will be reviewed at the beginning of April.
Aski Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 For all those that are wondering about UVic MPA, I emailed them and they said that the decisions would be out in late March. I'm hoping it comes out before my deadline for Carleton The UVic MPA online stream isn't even being reviewed until beginning of April, received an email today.
Lit Diva Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Got the reply from my email to UBC English today. Their system is down but it sounds like they will let everyone know very soon. I did learn that I got in
*Jenny* Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Got the reply from my email to UBC English today. Their system is down but it sounds like they will let everyone know very soon. I did learn that I got in Do you happen to know if this system failure is UBC-wide or just the English department? I'm waiting on counselling psych...
Lit Diva Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 It is just the English department that has the system problems, as far as I know. My friend, who applied, hasn't heard back from clinical psych either.
