Feel ya. Didn't care about the results, or have opened gradcafe until a few days ago, when I realized that 2-3 schools I have applied to have already sent their acceptances. Oh, the pressure is real!!!!!

Now the anxiety has consumed me.

Who would have thought waiting around doing nothing could be so darned exhausting!?

I received a letter in the mail from a school I applied to this evening when I got home from work, I thought it may have been a decision. alas, It was merely a confirmation of my application posted in November that had been delayed in transit obviously.

Whomp whomp!

Good luck to everyone still waiting for good news! I'm certainly feeling the anxiety now!

Seems like someone contacted Georgetown, there's an update on the results page.

Mid-March seems ages away right now.

500 applications.. roughly 300 for IR (based on previous years) and ~2 scholarships...

Princeton released theirs mid-February last year, but end of February the two years before. Combine that with the fact that their website gives a stated deadline of early March, I'd say we've got a while.

Any idea when MIT, Princeton, and Columbia are supposed to release decisions?

Based on previous years, no earlier than 10th of December.

I'm just over here wondering if Stony Brook has sent out all their offers yet. I noticed a two people said they were admitted in the past few days.

Question for everyone -- do you think it is distasteful to email a POI at a school which has already rejected you? I'd like to follow up, express my intention of reapplying, and perhaps in the process glean some more information about the decision.

I suspect so, but am also curious about this

I think it's absolutely fine. They might not be able to provide you with much information (they might have sifted through hundreds of applications.. or not been on the committee), but it's worth a shot. If they happened to be annoyed by this then I'm not sure they'd make a great person to work with.. ;)

I think it should be fine as long as it's respectful. I imagine it might be difficult for the POI to give specific information about your application since they probably read hundreds of them, but I think it's worth a shot.

Eugh. That feeling when an acceptance pops up for a school you've applied to and your inbox is empty... (Penn State.)

Well done to whoever it may be :)

Same here ;~}.  Just scrambled to check the online application status, but it doesn't mention anything.

Well done to the Arizona admits... looks like they're on the up in IR. I met Thies at a conference and he's nice and very approachable.. and somehow manages to publish a ludicrous amount. Will Moore on the way there too which from my perspective makes it look like a great place ;). Trying to remember why I didn't apply..

Meant to ask for clarification on this -- are you referring to FSU's Will Moore?

Yup. Widely reported to be off to ASU on the-site-that-must-not-be-named (poliscirumors).

Hmm, interesting. Thanks for the clarification.

Congrats to all the Penn State admits and other admits of the day! And to any who receive unfavorable news, food and video games always provide solace.

I think it is ok. However, if faculty at the Department of interest is large, there is a possiiblity that your POI was not on the committee. Question for people admitted to Stanford: who was the chair of admission committee this year? Of course, if this information is not confidential...

Welp.. another rejection - this time from Austin! Really thought I had a chance there / was a good fit. Did mark that I wouldn't accept if I didn't get a fellowship, so maybe that had something to do with it? Hoping I still have a chance at one of the other 7 schools I haven't heard back from yet ...
