No official acceptances of anything of the sort yet (all of my deadlines were Jan or Feb) but I got an email about an interview at Emerson on the weekend of the 28th! Does anyone know if there's truth to people saying that Emerson only interviews candidates it considers qualified/wants to admit? That would be good for my confidence going in! :-P:-P:-P

As far as I can tell they interview a portion of candidates, and then about 1/4-1/3 of those are accepted! You can't get accepted without getting an interview so it's a step in the right direction!

I just received my official Maryland acceptance letter! I am extremely chuffed.

eta: ok, maybe not official-official, but the department has accepted me! They said an official-er email/letter is incoming.

*Squeals!*  I'm so happy for you!!!  Are you planning to accept or are you waiting to hear back from other schools first?

THANKS GIRL. Have you heard anything??

I'm going to see the rest of my applications out (except maybe for Redlands... if I can stay nearby, I don't want to move to California!) because I haven't heard anything about the money question. UMD is definitely in my top 3, though, so I'm excited!

Woohoo! Congrats, esopha! Out of all the schools I've applied to, UMD is the first one to start sending out acceptances. I can't decide if I feel excited or even more anxious than before. Haha.

Wow!  Nope, haven't heard back yet, but it does look like they've sent my app to the grad school.

OMG, I swear, I was halfway through typing this when my phone notified me that I had an email.  Me: "Oh good, another email that probably isn't an acceptance."

WRONG!!!!  I just got into UMD!!!!!!!!!  And then I fell off the face of the earth for an hour while I did a happy dance and called everybody and their grandmother (or at least my grandmother!)

Thank you all for your amazing support!  You guys rock, and I hope you get your good news soon!

I am so shocked to have heard back this early, but I also was accepted to UMD this afternoon!! CONGRATS to everyone else who got in!!!

I've also seen a lot of University of Wisconsin-Madison acceptances on the results page. Has anyone else who has applied there not heard back yet?

I still haven't heard back either :(  My application status on the myUW portal still says 'pending'

I really want to be excited for you guys that got into UMD, but it's also my first choice and I haven't heard yet. My hopes have been slightly dented.

I really wish I'll hear back from somebody soon. All my apps were finished barely on time, though, thanks to LOR writers being ultra slow!

Hello, everyone. Congratulations on the acceptances thus far! :)

This is my first time posting in these forums though I've been around for a few months now. I'm an out of field applicant currently pursuing a B.A in Cognitive Science. I just found out today that I was accepted into the graduate program at SUNY Buffalo for the Fall (this definitely makes up for my not having received an interview offer from Emerson, heh). I was wondering if anyone else is applying, or has heard back from them? It seems like a great program, but I haven't spotted much discussion about it around here.

For those posting about UTD, it is a rolling admission process.  I found my rejection via Galaxy about a week before I got the letter in the mail last year.  It came very late, I want to say early May.  If you do go there, finding affordable housing will be a challenge.  The best bet might be the gay neighborhood around Oak Lawn Ave.  Don't go west or north around Love Field, those are high crime areas.  If you have a good amount of money, you can live in uptown or downtown Dallas.  I understand a lot of students live in an area called the village.  It is about 15 minutes northeast from Parkland Hospital without traffic.  It's too bad they don't have some student housing, it is a tough area to find an affordable place to live.

Congratulations @lindsey8!  Do you think you'll attend, or are you waiting for other schools before you decide?

Aw, I'm sorry @Puffer Fish.  I hope you hear back soon!  This was just the first round of acceptances, so don't give up hope yet!

Puffer Fish, like SLPg said, I think UMD does admissions in batches! I wouldn't give up hope yet. And you've applied to so many great schools, so you know you'll end up somewhere good no matter what happens. It only takes one yes. :)

Congrats to everyone getting acceptances! Is it safe to say that if we haven't heard from Emerson by now regarding an interview, it's a no go … maybe a wait list?

I'm not sure if Emerson only accepts people that they interview. I think the process is new as of last year...

I am still waffling on whether to do my interview in person. I think I'd like to, but it would be nice to hear from BU before I book a flight up there.

@SLPgradstudent UMD is one of my top choices, so chances are very good I will attend, but I am going to wait to hear from other schools before I decide! I see you're applying to GW too. I'm hoping to hear from them soon!

@Puffer Fish I wouldn't worry about it! This was only the first round, and from looking through the results page from previous years, it seems like UMD will be sending out acceptances in waves. Fingers crossed for you!!

Emerson definitely only accepts people that interview. They've been doing interviews for three years now. Not getting an interview essentially means not getting accepted, although frustratingly they won't officially tell you that until the normal time (around mid-March). But yeah. You have to do an in-person or skype interview in order to considered for admission.
