anyone else waiting on loyola-chi or amherst??

I'm obsessively checking email and spire for UMass Amherst. I thought we might hear something Saturday. 2/3 of the last years they notified on that Saturday and in 2014 on the 18th I think. So any day. I did my undergrad at Amherst College and my MAT at Smith. Would love to return to that area.

For people who are asking the Columbia's application status on the result page.

Last Friday DGS emailed a personalized appology to all the master admitted students (GSAS got it all wrong I suppose), and said 22 students admitted into the MA program are all notified.

Im not sure if they have a wait list for phd admits though. That's all I know from that email.

hang in there people!!

This might mean you're on the waitlist for the waitlist - so a long shot. I know CUNY does this.

Interesting... Thanks for the info!

Got rejected from Indiana University a few days ago...it was my top choice so I was pretty bummed :(

Anybody still waiting to hear back from UNC Chapel Hill? They're the only school I haven't heard back from and it's been over 2 months since the application was due.

Congrats to everyone else that's received good news!

Accepted into new PhD program at West Virginia U,

Accepted at SUNY Albany, wait listed for funding

Rejected at Wisconsin-Madison, wouldn't have applied if I had coupled Goffman's work with an expected rise in applicants.

Still waiting to hear from Penn and Syracuse, but Penn isn't looking good based on how many accepteds I've seen.

I also haven't heard anytihng from UNC. But I think we should be focusing on the offers we already have, since I think the only thing we will hear after this point will be rejections (I would really love to be wrong about this).

Looks like a lot of Penn results today!

Also, saw a Vanderbilt acceptance today. I'm wondering if that applicant really heard back today or just posted their result today? I'd love to hear more info!

Trying to remain optimistic yet realistic  ... this will be the final program I hear back from either way!

Rejected from Penn - this one was my dream program. :*(

So far I'm 0-3, waiting on 5 more responses but no longer optimistic. Already saw posted acceptances for 3 of them. May have to reapply in the fall, and would probably be better off sticking with Communications studies, rather than trying to transfer to a new major.

Keep your head up, you never know! Plus you bring a different perspective to the field, which to me is a good thing. :) Sorry about Penn!

Can anyone claim the Vandy acceptance? Were you one of those who were offered an interview?

They invited more than they are accepting to the interview. I withdrew but don't think it would mean that they take in more bc they would still have "more" than they can accept. Visit is this weekend.

Today's results page Vanderbilt sociology acceptance listing did say they were an international student! Maybe that's why they received a straight up acceptance instead of an invitation to the visit this weekend. That might explain it?

oh interesting! I just noticed you were referring to today's vandy post. lol I guess they decided interviews are a bad idea!! congrats to that person

it also makes me wonder if the interview was actually less interview and more of an acceptance. idk why they would say that they are inviting more than they are taking then. strange!

I'm thinking it might have to do with the accepted student being an international student! Coordinating travel to the interview visit might be tough in that situation.

I saw there was a rejection posted for Umass but my application still has no notifications on it. Anyone else in this position/ the person who was rejected where was the decision letter?

There has been quite a bit of chatter on the Results page for Hopkins, and one acceptance. Apparently the email was in his/her spam folder. Anybody want to claim it? ...seems like the Results page gets more action than the forum, for some reason.

I claim the recent Vandy acceptance. Wasn't interviewed or anything like that before (maybe cuz I'm an international student), just received an e-mail from the DGS asking me if I'm still interested in the program. I was told they would be recommending me for the admission to the Dean if I'm still interested. I will probably decline their offer within a day or so. Thanks!

Yup Penn rejection today.

At least I didn't Fan-boy Randall Collins anywhere in my app. But would have been nice to work with him...

Still waiting on Syracuse.

Hi there! I have received several messages about Penn wait list. I received the "official letter" from the graduate chair( very interested in admitting but waiting for the authorization of extended offers) invitation to the campus visit followed by several emails about the campus visit. Penn is my top choice so if there is anyone admitted chooses not to go, plz inform them as soon as possible~I do appreciate it!

Any more question, free to PM me!

I'm having the same issue. I can log into Spire, but it just says "applied." Is it worth a call to the school, or maybe it just hasn't been updated yet?

hmmm I'm always paranoid about calling schools--I'm sure it'll come eventually. I was wondering if I was missing the location of the link or something. If you call, post back here!
