  1. Every day that passes with no word I fill with more and more self-doubt ...I know I'm being ridiculous because it's so early in the cycle and most of my schools don't even notify applicants until mid March but still.
  2. This thread makes me question the length of my own SOP. It was only 500-550 words, haha.
  3. Congratulations. LaAuD! Which way do you think you will decide if you get accepted into the audiology program?
  4. I really would like to work as a counselor at a camp for special needs children this summer. The catch is that it only pays minimum wage and my parents would NOT be happy about my giving up my fairly good paying job and a chance to save money for school. I might have to settle for volunteering as much as I can.
  5. OMG nolalee, you applied to a lot of schools! haha. I'm sure you'll get in to more .
  6. Recipe, please! I can never get them quite right.
  7. Thanks for the info! haha. and oh trust me, I have those nightmares too! Do you know if UBC accepts more people than they expect to actually attend? I guess it's not likely because there's so few programs in Canada, unlike in the US.
  8. breakups are so hard. I really hope I get some good news soon!

I feel you! Hang in there! You have a light at the end of the tunnel waiting just for you...

  9. haha, I just had a vivid dream that I was accepted to UBC in early scholarship-recieving fashion and woke up to my dog gently licking my face. Oh well, it was worth it while it lasted.
  10. JDGrosman, I can completely relate! I'm also waiting on the University of Illinois and hope we hear back soon! They sent out acceptances until early March last year so I hope that's the case for this year .
  11. Ugh I'm so nervous now! This is earlllyyy for UBC .
  12. That's awesome! I volunteer at a total communication preschool program for Deaf and hard of hearing children and children otherwise affected by hearing loss (CODA, etc).
  13. Thanks for asking! I have always known that I wanted to be an audiologist and didn't think twice about my hearing loss being a factor. Although I haven't experienced it personally, I have heard that sometimes there is pushback even within the field, which is unfortunate, as you would think that CSD people would be the most understanding. I have been asked by average laypersons won't my hearing loss affect my job? But I usually find that these people don't know the difference between SL-P and audiology! Hearing loss would be more of a factor in SL-P, although I did have a hard of hearing SL-P (she wore HAs) and she was fantastic . I would assume that Deaf audiologists without CIs or HAs would experience more pushback. Myself and deciBELLE (I'm making an assumption here ) are fairly high functioning in terms of hearing and unfortunately, I think this would be deemed more "acceptable" in the profession. It would be interesting to speak with a Deaf person working in the field.
  14. That's so neat! I know we will be just fine as audiologists . No one understands our future patients better than we do!
  15. I love your name too, deciBELLE! Thanks to Asemoooooo for the education on cookie bite configuration/sensorineural hearing loss. That's something I haven't come across yet! Which school are you currently attending, if you don't mind? I'm always so interested to hear about other hearing impaired audiologists!
  16. Thank you for your reply! That is good to know that I could potentially be accepted at Kent State if not UA, that is a definite plus. I hope I hear from them soon!
  17. Congratulations, AuDMel!
  18. I wonder if this is also true for international applicants and that's why I haven't heard anything. UGH I need to stop overthinking this, lol.
  19. I HOPE so! I feel like everyone has heard something but me! I know that isn't true, though. Do American programs send out rejections first or last? Canadian programs send them out last and I think it's cruel...haha.
  20. I personally don't believe in "the One". I think it's actually harmful to have such a high expectation of someone. Most happily married couples are not perfectly matched, but make it work.
  21. I agree with AuDBall; you should contact the department to make sure your application was received! I emailed Dr. Miller my regrets when I got my invite and she said that top candidates who are unable to attend will be offered Skype interviews sometime in the next few weeks. I hope I get one because I would love to go to UAkron. AuDBall, do you know if UAkron accepts people with lower GRE/GPA? My GPA is only average and my GRE quantitative leaves a lot to be desired. Thanks!
  22. Thank you! I'm so excited to bring her along with me to school, wherever that will be!
  23. Just thought I would add a photo of my baby! hehe.
  24. Hey Inny, I had the same thing in my letter although mine was a wait-list letter. It says on their website that they receive 150-200 applications for 35 spots.
  25. I'm sorry. All I can say is that each program has their own (absurd?) criteria that none of us can ever hope to imagine or guess at. I'm sure you will be another school's perfect fit . I can sympathize because I am a re-applicant after being wait-listed last year as well. Keep your chin up.
