You are grossly uninformed, judgmental, and ignorant of your privileges and where they came from. Affirmative Action has helped white women more than men and women of color, and you being against it is ironic [1]. I am a great supporter of Affirmative Action because not everyone can grow up in an educated, middle/high income, non-criminalized, and [insert white privileges here] household and then expect to catch up to their white counterparts at the age of 17 when applying for college.
After having read your other comments in the other threads, I suggest that you reevaluate your values and to realign it with modern America because eventually you're going to harm no one but yourself.

Yeah thanks. The campus is nice but it was in the middle of nowhere. Seems there were dilapidated buildings and hobos running around.

To each his own I guess. I'm not really in favor of affirmative action. I don't think ethnicity should be asked on applications at all. And regarding racism I HIGHLY doubt that you could generalize that at just Texas. Racism happens everywhere. Texas would have been cheaper for you lol. Seattle rent is outrageous my friend paying like $2100 for a one bedroom there.

And you seem pretty rude. It's pretty ridiculous for you to accuse me of not doing research. I thought this forum would be a supportive environment but I see now that it is not.

    Two things.
    1) I didn't say that people don't take loans. I'm taking with issue with your statement that most people take out loans. Do you have any data to support this?
    2) Master's degrees are funded in a number of fields. There are many posts here where people ask about them, list programs that offer funding, etc. So, your blanket statement isn't applicable to all fields though it may be applicable to some of yours.
In general, my point is that you shouldn't make such broad, sweeping statements. I applied to a master's program at UNC years ago that fully funded those admitted (tuition waiver plus stipend). Obviously this isn't the same field as yours but, it supports my point that there are master's students at UNC who aren't taking out loans.
If you did want to avoid debt, you could try to get a job at a college or university which provides tuition benefits to employees and then use that to pursue your master's part-time.

You seem pretty uninformed about this topic. First of all, a 2 second Google search told me that the average salary for a "health informatics specialist" is $61,000/yr. So $60,000 is standard, not on the lowest end like you guessed. If you are really interested in pursuing a career this way, it would behoove you to do some research about both the job market and the job itself. Second, there actually are a lot of funded masters programs in general. I'm not sure about your field, but you seem to be making these vast statements that aren't really true. Third, there are pretty much always some ways of keeping costs low, like merit-based fellowships/grants/aid, research assistantships, or other scholarships. If you are not really competitive for these awards, it's going to be a lot harder. I would advise that you really start doing some research about your options--just posting about not liking loans isn't really going to be very helpful for you.

Edit: LOL downvoting everyone who disagrees with you or points out problems isn't going to fix anything!

@rack_attack124 Your situation right now will not be solved with a masters program (in health informatics). If you want to get out of debt, there are other ways to do it besides getting into more debt. I'm not sure which types of programs have deadlines this late into the year, but if it's a for-profit school, an online college, or if the school has low admissions standards, that may actually even work against you [1][2]. If you are looking to "be a millionaire," working in a job will not get you there. You have to ask yourself what value you can give people--may that be entertainment, advice, products, skills, services, anything else that you think people will spend their hard-earned money to receive.
Before taking on a mountain of debt and thinking that you can "pay the debt off pretty fast," I would highly recommend reading the posts on the Student Debt Crisis website. They really opened my eyes to the world of student debt and how many, many people regret it. We too often hear the side of admissions and their job placement rates and their student ambassadors, but we rarely see the truth and reality for a great number of people.

Been exchanging emails with the Graduate Program Director and he said that there are two people who haven't responded to their offer, so if one of them says no then I guess I'm in!

So I applied to Brock , Wilfred Laurier and McMaster and the worst just happened today - we regret to inform you ..... from Brock. Oh what makes it worse is that is my current school. I think I am still numb which is why I haven't cried yet. Definetely did not expect it . I am however still waiting for Laurier and McMaster. But I don't know , if my own school didn't accept me ( depressed mode) , how much more others ? Seems like I might have to look into option B : job hunting . Omg ! I have a 78% average overall , with like above 80 % in the last two years . Maybe my letter of intent wasn't strong enough.  I am scared but calm at the same time like maybe there is a higher purpose to this. I refused to be depressed  though . Fingers crossed for Laurier and McMaster .

Emailed. I'm wait listed. Told that accepted applicants have until April 1 to confirm attendance, and that if I didn't hear by the 15th to check back. Which likely means that I'm so far down the wait list that all I'll be hearing is a rejection when they send them out.

An online master's doesn't command much respect in the professional world, and hardly any in the academic world.

okay being honest, I have no idea why you applied if you don't like the location. what do you do right now? if I was in your situation, I would probably wait and apply again. No sense doing something that will make you unhappy. Life is too short for that you know? but I hope you can enhance your application with another year off. I don't know what you do right now. What is the location anyway?

yeah waitlist is better than rejection for sure. you're still in the game. have you been waitlisted before? Can we really expect decisions by April 15th? I tried emailing professors lol it didn't really work. They did not provide the insight I wanted lol.

as far as the cost goes, I'm just glad that I reached out to professors to see if they were taking students before I applied.  It saved me $160 this cycle and would have probably done the same last cycle.  The last two schools that haven't given me any notification at all are the ones that are really killing me though.  I get that I've got another 8 days of waitlist purgatory for the places I was waitlisted, but I've got this false hope that I might get news from the others any time now, which has me glued to the application status websites, my email, and grad cafe.  I will say that this beats getting completely shut out by mid-March.  Good luck everyone!
