  1. "Un-liked" a post so I could use a vote for yours! Thanks @loganondorf. I've reached out to professors before but for some reason (I think I'm just tired), I have a blockage with the emails I''m trying to send out today. I don't know what to ask to an M.A. faculty: do I ask if they're accepting students, too?
  2. @KTF87 Nope, no comp lit results from NYU, but maybe I'm the only one on GC who applied there haha.
  3. I don't know if it's more appropriate to ask questions, or if it's not their job to answer; if I should ask if they feel my interests could turn into a collaboration; etc.? Personally, it's for the M.A. level. But feel free to speak to both degrees' do's and don'ts!
  4. *shrugs* *trembles* *fears* *tears* Plus, I had very good email exchanges with a Prof. from the department. I know it doesn't guarantee anything, and that Princeton is a very long shot, but it got my hopes up and I feel like only they can save me.
  5. Pas faux, @ThousandsHardships. I noticed Comp Lit programs notify a few days after English, which explains why I'm so deeply affected by English results But you're right, I'm not giving hope until I see the "NAH". It's indeed psychologically impossible.
  6. Good thing there are no crying smileys on the forum... Because I would have filled many, many lines with those...
  7. Good to know! I planned to work on time management and train myself to have schedules, but applications have gotten me all over the place.
  8. Same. Except that I don't know how long your papers are! But I'm a very slow reader... I'm scared now!
  9. Booo I don't want to let go of NYU either! I'm sad this season was so bad. I know it was the first etc etc but ugh.
  10. Need this topic too, even for my last undergrad semester!
  11. I did EXACTLY the same for math, tried to solve some stuff but otherwise went with my "gut" Scored 139, though... hahaha
  12. But there ARE when you check out the results board and the fora!!!
  13. You've been accepted to almost all the UC's, that's pretty funny Congrats! Venting: I've been dreaming of Villanova for the last two nights, now. And waking up with anxiety--opening the door to feel less oppressed and starting to breathe fast a little before going back to sleep. I really need all of this to be over.
  14. Don't forget that not all applicants are on GC, guys! So because there are no notifications about being waitlisted, it doesn't mean that it's not being done
  15. Yes, I am one of the rejetions.
  16. Indeed. That's something I'd definitely humblebrag about, @jackdacjson
  17. Ha! Just received my no-no from Cornell. It really is good to know. A little surprised they notified before NYU, though!
  18. Or could it be that they just reviewed your application and checked the "all documents here" box while they make a decision?
  19. I am dependent on my mom, too, don't worry! I just wish I won't be anymore one day LOL
  20. Hey there @Silabus. I'm also surrounded by fresh, perfect undergrads and the only other people my age or older are... much, MUCH older! I've been stressing about "being too old" too, but when I started thinking of PhD's as a job and not as "ten more years of studying", I realized I'll be okay. My family won't get it, some of my friends will also think I'm lazy and eternally dependent on my mom, but your colleagues will and that's where you should fish for the love of your life
  21. Can't wait to see that and to follow all of your posts as a Ph.D. student!
  22. From what I gathered from email exchanges between the dpt of Columbia's English and Comparative Literature, when I thought I'd apply to their program, they consider that all English programs today are tending towards being interdisciplinary. I may have over-interpreted but that's at least what they're aiming at!
  23. The topic has been opened, feel free to rejoice and repent over there.
  24. Or knowing from GC that the later you hear, the baddest the news seem to get
