    Just found out I won't hear a thing until the end of January AT THE EARLIEST. Today, one program emailed applicants to remind us of the due date and that many applicants have thus far failed to turn in the supplementary application. WHY ARE YOU REMINDING THEM! THIS IS COMPETITIVE PLEASE STOP

      I concur. Other than LORs, people unable to meet deadlines should be weeded out ASAP. Survival of the punctual! Also, if they would give bonus points for being early....... That'd be awesome!

    @OmarComin' I'm staying with airbnb for the first time next week in NOLA, 10th-15th it was MUCH cheaper than a hotel so I'm excited to see how it goes. You're right, I should look into prices in KC. MI, right? I wish everyone best of luck (on programs I didn't apply to)!!!

I asked cincy and they said no, nothing formal, but Dr. Sullivan might invite people they don't know yet. When I said UIC I mean University Illinois-Chicago SORRY no way I can afford to live in Cali Yeah I met with my supervisor today to go over the schedule for my internship this semester and I totally prefaced like okay I'm not being rude I promise, but if I randomly look at my phone while we are talking its because it vibrated which means I have an email and I HAVE to check it immediately. She wrote an LOR for me so she gets it and she's very cool about it, but yeah idk how people do anything else and I'm supposed to plan all this stuff for our student association and I don't know if it's a good thing cuz it's something to take my mind off or bad cuz it's just more to worry about.

    @smcg I won't know if I am going for a WHILE so if you decide or wanna book a room through booking.com where we can cancel for free and pay when we get there, just in case we end up going, I'm totally down for sharing a room. I'm gonna need to know some stuff about you though, like are you a serial killer and generally what temperature do you like the room to be? LOL the important things, right? @AspiringScholar17Now I really really want to go to ACJS I would love to meet people that I will hopefully be in the same cohort with!

    @AspiringScholar17 I WANT TO GO TO ACJS SO BADLY. Kansas City, MI right? I've only been to social work conferences. I would need to find a crazy cheap room to stay, crazy cheap flight, and volunteer to avoid fees but I SO want to go. Have you been?

    Hey @AspiringScholar17 I don't know if you're applying to Sam Houston, but apparently they start reviewing applications in February and decide who to invite for a meet and greet kinda thing, and they pay for EVERYTHING. UCin as of now isn't having anything, and neither is UIC

    @hopefulPhD2017 I'm literally laying here willing a school to send me something ANYTHING indicating that I don't suck. I'm the only person I know applying to phd programs, I'm the first in my immediate family to get a bachelors and I'm getting my MSW now and so I'm literally reading threads from 2014 trying to figure out what my chances are and it's depressing. I want ice cream.

    Hey all, I see a lot of people on here discussing programs I am waiting to hear back from, specifically UCin and U Illinois-Chicago. Anyone able to update us on what happened with your applications/when admission was offered/did you visit/was there an interview? Thanks

    Fulbright that sounds like one of those smarty farty things I never felt good enough for so I put it out of my mind. Yeah I only started actually realizing I'm basically the smartest person ever about a year ago. I always talked a good game, but it was just really well disguised sarcasm lololol

    Just sent an email with a simple question to a program director, and I swear I never agonized like that over the content, structure, and language of an email. 

    Everyone's like "be yourself"..."but not like, TOO much yourself..."
