Did you hear back from those schools yet?

Both! I feel like there are a lot of people that applied to both programs. That's awesome you have heard back from so many schools! I've only heard from Carnegie!

I really feel like they won't expect a copy of your resume. I think you should just be able to talk about yourself. The school already has seen your resume and if they want the professors to see them or have them in hand they would supply them. You could bring them just in case.

Saw some other majors that had a thread for people to post where they chose to accept and which school they are declining. Thought it might be interesting to see!

Have you checked their website? I realize you probably have but I've looked at a few of the schools I applied to and they either have a general size of incoming class in their applicaiton process page or FAQ page. It's worth a try. But yes, I definitely feel that way. Some days I just feel like I'm going to get some sort of news and hear absolutely nothing. I feel like not knowing is almost if not harder than getting rejections.

I got a 331 (170 Q, 161 V) on my first try. I used Magoosh, it was really helpful and generally the questions were harder than the actual test so it actually prepared me really well. The math section especially was a piece of cake after going through their practice questions. I decided to study before signing up for the exam because I had plenty of time. I only signed up for the exam when I felt ready to take it. and then I had two or three weeks beyond that to really make sure I remembered all the special exceptions and formulas.

I think black tights are fine. They may not seem as professional but I have worked in a professional environment for over two years and wear them to work all the time. I think the only reason they seem less professional is because they seem younger.

I agree. It takes two seconds to put them in and it's not like we don't all have our scores memorized.

Yeah I'm really excited about getting in. It's such a good school. Really wasn't expecting to get in. Are you currently a graduate student or undergraduate researcher?

Funding is definitely something to be considered. If funding isn't provided you could be forced to go into debt. One big thing to consider is your career goals. If you want to go into academia the name of the school can play a huge role. If you want to go into industry other factors need to be considered like how many students that get phds get jobs every year. Its also important to consider how sure you are about your research interests and of the professors will have the projects for you for sure. I have friends that went to certain schools for a specific research project and by the time they got there (6 months after the conversation with professor) the project had been given to someone else. It really seems like you need to sit down and calculate how much it will cost you if you don't get funded and if it's worth the benefits.

That's so awesome! Congrats. Really hoping I hear back in the next few days.

How many grad schools did you apply to?
meggied replied to SpeechLaedy's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
I applied to 9 programs, 8 schools. People acted like I was applying to a ton of schools so I'm glad to see other people applied to as many as me! -

I strongly recommend taking the GRE early and using Magoosh. You should study and then register for the exam when you feel ready rather than just signing up. When people sign up they tend to put off studying. I did really well on the GRE (V: 161 Q: 170) and from others I know it really helps secure funding. I think you have a good shot of getting in but it is hard for others to answer that. Schools all look for different things and sometimes it's shocking which schools accept you versus which don't.

I'm sure that getting an email means you are officially admitted. It is a little odd that they did it before all your material was in but you must have just been that strong of a candidate. Some schools begin looking at applications as soon as they start receiving them. I can think of four schools off the top of my head that began accepting people before their application deadline passed. I would wait a few days for the website to change and if it doesn't contact their graduate advisor. However, if you really are that worried email them now. Couldn't hurt! Congrats by the way! Getting accepted takes a huge weight of your shoulders, enjoy it!

This happened at Northwestern a few years ago. More people accepted the prior year so the next year they just accepted less students. I don't know if a school can actually take away your acceptance unless you give them a reason, such as failing a class.
