  1. Has anyone received an official interview request from UBC yet?
  2. Does anyone know if the Fordham Clinical PhD invites were just for the adult track, or all tracks of the program?
  3. Unofficial acceptace at Dalhousie! I haven't heard a peep from OISE, Guelph, Concordia, or Ryerson at this point.
  4. Nope! I heard it would be first or second week of January but at this point I'm getting a bit worried
  5. OISE or U of T Scarborough? OISE is usually a lot later in the game for interviews.
  6. not sure, mine was just clinical
  7. Preliminary interviews for UBC are also happening, with invites going out for interview weekend first or second week of January
  8. I'm also on my second round for child clinical! It's a brutal process but I'm sure it's well worth it in the end.
  9. Awesome, thank you!
  10. Did you apply directly to the PhD with your undergrad? The website and communication I've had with them is pretty confusing
  11. Extremely helpful, thank you both!
  12. Questions for Canadian applicants! How did you navigate the CGS-M submissions? I know you can only submit to four schools, but every school ideally wants you to pick them as one of the four. Did you just pick your four top picks and call it a day? How did you explain why you 'didn't' apply to the other schools if they ask?' I'm also having difficulty figuring out which topic I should put in my proposal. I currently have two research areas, and two different proposals written. Two of the schools are in the one area, and two are in the other area. I've heard that you can change the topic if it's awarded, but I'm not sure if it will be a significant disadvantage if I apply with a proposal that's in a different area than what I'd want to pursue at that particular school. Does that make sense? Any assistance would be appreciated!
  13. haha I feel that! Best of luck to you as well!
  14. Thanks all! I only sent the second score. I appreciate the assistance!
  15. Honestly, I took the test 3 times and did worse on the third than I did on the second. Focus on tightening up the other aspects of your application, and save your sanity!
  16. Thanks for the response! Is there any particular reason why?
  17. Honestly, I wouldn't try to follow a sample as you don't want to make it seem too formulaic. Start with writing a bullet point list of why you want to go to grad school. Pick the most salient points from that list, make a narrative out of it, and fill it with descriptions of how your experience prepare you for pursuing social psych. Try not to make it shocking or flashy, just be true to yourself as you write since this statement is a representation of who you are. Start writing it freely to avoid writers' block. After, go over every sentence and see if that displays you as a qualified candidate. If it doesn't serve a purpose, take it out. To be honest I don't think a hook is completely necessary. If your hook is related throughout your statement, use it. If it's just something to catch their attention before you get to the 'boring stuff,' leave it out. I'm not sure how much time you have to write your statement, but I found the 'Graduate Admissions Essays' book by Asher quite helpful as I have been writing mine.
  18. You are going to be fine! You have lots of great experiences. As long as your GPA for last two years is solid (3.7 is great), you'll have a really good chance.
  19. Hi everyone, I'm having difficulty thinking about which GRE scores I should send: First round: 153v 155q 5.0 awa (my worst score) Second round: 156v 157q 5.0 awa Third round: 153v 159q 5.5 awa I'm not sure if I should send just the second score, or all scores to include my higher math score and awa score. Does anyone have any thoughts?
  20. I've heard 10-15 days For clinical I have: OISE School and Clinical Child Psychology Dalhousie Ryerson UBC Simon Fraser Concordia Guelph Fordham (in the states) Then I also have school psych at McGill. Where are you applying? We're so close to the end!
  21. I just wanted to start this thread off, since it was so helpful last year! Any Canadian applicants out there?
  22. Good to know, thank you!
  23. Thank you both for the feedback! I'm currently stuck in the 156v 157q range, though every other aspect of my application is pristine. I'm worried that a low score will keep schools from seeing the rest of my application. I have one more round of the general in a month though, so here's hoping!
  24. I will be applying to clinical psychology programs in Canada for fall 2018 entry. I've heard that 80th percentile is the standard for GRE scores in clinical psych, though I am not sure if this is a 'requirement' across the board. I'll be applying to Ryerson, Concordia, McGill, UVic, UBC, Guelph, Simon Fraser, York and Dalhousie. Does anyone know if any of these schools require more or less than the 80th percentile mark for GRE scores? Any insight would be appreciated
