Thanks for the advice. I am still working on my proposal, and am struggling to distinguish between goals, objectives and methods. I don't know why though. bBecause I was able to distingish those for two other scholarships (that I've won for my master's) but for my Ph.D, these categories get blurred to me.

I just paid my driving lessons! ?

I was moderating a panel today and for two minutes, I was very confused about what it is I was supposed to do exactly due to the instructions I had received prior to the event. Turned out okay, but I felt useless and like I did not know what I was doing and being the perfectionnist that I am, I don't like feeling like this in front of a crowd. It went well, but it could've been better. But yeah, it's done.

Good luck! ❤️

Hello, Is it true that experiences as a RA are more valued in academia than experices as a TA?

Thanks! I also bought also a lonely planet guide (lol, typical) -
1) Taking part in a research congress tomorrow on sexual assault in colleges in universities. I'll be moderating two workshops! 2) Everytime my current supervisor sees me, she smiles a LOT in the same way that she smiles when she talks about her own children. We've known each other and worked together for the last 4-5 years so I guess she must appreciate me a lot.

I should've changed the title of this thread to 2018-2019

If this man was single, I really believe that we've would've been a very solid & happy couple.

Do it anyway. I'm sure you'll be amazing. I also have impostor syndrome (which I feel is quite common among women) and everytime I decided to surpass it, life has given me the greatest rewards. I believe in you & obviously, other people do as well! ❤️

Hello, you can call Michelle Chiasson at 418-643-7582 ext. 3161. (It's on their website). I just got an email saying that I would get my first 'versement' today. Am I getting it on the 15 and 30 or the entire semester in one shot?

I just called them. So even if I am still in my master's program, I have to declare SSHRC for my first year of studies, and FRQSC will start in September 2018 instead of tomorrow. And then, after that, I will have to start filling up a report form for my first year of my MSW so they can know what I have done so far.

Being shy about talking about your accomplishments

I post a lot of stuff like newspaper articles, songs that I enjoy and memes. I truly don't post everything. But even I post some things, I still feel shy. That's why I don't completely understand why this lady said that I was 'shining too much', she literally said she was tired of hearing people talking about me positively. -
Hello everyone, so I started working on my Ph.D. research proposal for a scholarship that I have to apply for by September 2018 for entering my program in Fall 2019 (I am currently a master's student). I have a great idea for my Ph.D. thesis, I'm working on it with my Ph.D. supervisor, but I'm really struggling to figure out if the actual objectives of my thesis are achievable in 4-5 years full-time. I'm also having a hard time figuring out what it is about that topic that I want to study specifically. I'm lacking structure in other words, I don't know how to convey what it is I want to study. I've written grant proposals before and have been successful each time I applied for grants, but this one is a major one and I can't wrap my head around how to put into paper what it is that I want to focus on specifically in relation to that main topic. I'm especially struggling with coming up with a research question/objectives and sub-objectives. Help?

Hello, according to this document, I have to do a "rapport d'étape" because I got SSHRC for my first year of my master's studies? I'm very confused

- I feel very lonely and depressed today. - I got a billion things to do and yet, I feel like I don't even know where to begin and that I have plenty of time to do them.

Hello, I wonder if you girls ever feel shy when it comes to talking about your accomplishments on social media? My professional life is going pretty well right now, I've come a long way, and I share what I do online. However, I often feel shy about sharing those things out of fear that people may think that I'm 'bragging'. Once, a woman that I have never met told me that she is deleting me off Facebook for her mental health because she says that I 'shine too much'. (I never responded to her message.) Also, I have a lot of young black teens who are following me on social media and i feel like I have to share the things I do mostly for them. I'm well aware that as a visible minority, people won't come to look for me, that I have to put myself out there but I find it difficult because I don't like talking about the things that I accomplish. Anyone else feeling this way?

Officially done with my coursework. Finished my first year as a graduate student with a CGPA of 3.83 out of 4. Now on to the ethics approval to start collecting data next fall.
