Try applying to some of the newer, less known school's! I just got accepted into Albizu University with a pretty low gpa. I think it's because on EdFind it shows they're in Puerto Rico, but their other campus is in Miami so barely anyone applies. Pretty neat school too, classes are Friday and Saturday so you can still work and right now they're online.  Definitely check EdFind for school's that are a little more new and check their stats to see if your gpa and gre scores are around the same. Also try adding experience too.

Hi! I would try contacting Rafael Vasquez, he is the Enrollment Management Specialist. His email is rvasquez@albizu.edu.
Not sure about that program there but I believe it has to do if you want to be a teacher and work in the ESE Department.

Oh dang! I'm sorry. I've received plenty of those and they suck every time. As for your class, Aural Rehab, most schools are going to require it but it's pretty shady they pushed for you to take it with them. Are you still waiting on other schools? This school is my last hope for this application cycle.

Oh I see. How'd that class go? I'm ready to hear about their decision but have hesitated to contact them since 5 weeks have gone by since my application was forwarded to the admissions committee.....I guess I'm going to just wait.....

I also was given the option for Dallas campus but am not from Texas. I was told in the phone call in March that they very recently were granted approval to open Dallas so I believe if pp was given an interview in October that may be why they weren't given a Dallas consideration.
Did anyone else get an invitation to interview this week? Debating if I should go in person..

What class did they not accept from your other school? It sounds like if you had an interview they were already really interested in you!
I don't think the Dallas campus was an option initially. I figured because I am in TX they asked me to switch my preference. I'm curious if they offered it to everyone who applied......?

Did undergrad at UCF & am currently enrolled in their grad program; UCF offers their own Aural Rehab class, but at the graduate level. Aural Rehab differs from Hearing Dis in that the latter goes into the science of Hearing Disorders, whereas Aural Rehab actually delves into how to treat clients.

    Hi,
Anyone have an update for this program? How did interviews go? Any one accepted? Thoughts from current students (would be part of 1st cohort that started in fall)?
Any information is very much appreciated.

So I have been doing a lot of research on this and as long as the school is a candidate for accreditation or accredited it counts in terms of graduating and becoming ASHA certified etc. when you become an SLP.

Yay, I'm glad someone else looked into it as much as I did lol. And thanks for mentioning that you know someone in the program and that it's going well. The price is very affordable compared to Nova and other distance programs so I'm glad here in FL we have another option. Have you attended their info session? They have one coming up on 10/25.

Yes I did this research also! I know someone who is going to the school now and she has said pretty good things overall. Nothing that would be a red flag.

On ASHA EdFind I couldn't find this school listed in their search either. Seems sketchy at first because in undergrad they stressed to us how important ASHA EdFind was and that we need to make sure the programs we apply to are fully accredited... but I've heard that EdFind is not frequently updated, I think they update it once a year. The University of St. Aug. is a newer program so they may just not be on their yet. On the University of St. Augustine site it says: "It is the intent of the USAHS MS-SLP program to comply with Candidacy status requirements and to seek full accreditation. Currently, Speech-Language Pathology program graduates must hold a degree from a Speech-Language Pathology program that is considered to be in Accreditation Candidate status or fully accredited by the CAA, depending on the state, in order to be eligible to practice as a licensed speech-language pathologist in most states." So basically they are in Candidacy status until 2023, all "emerging and developing" programs have 5 years to get fully accredited if I understand properly. So from now 2018, until 5 years later which will be in 2023 that they should receive full accreditation status if they continue to comply with the CAA standards. This is the link to their CAA letter, on the top it shows the 3 concerns that they need to fix :https://www.asha.org/eweb/CAAawp/0330 University of Saint Augustine for Health Sciences - Austin TX - SLP Candidacy Application 7.2018 AAR.pdf
After reading through that letter the program seems legit, and the concerns they had don't seem to be a huge deal but I read something about the school being sold. Not sure what that means but I'm too worried to apply and be in a program that might possibly be shut down or something. I may wait and see how it goes for others in the program before applying. And sorry this is an essay but I looked into it and thought I might as well share what I found with anyone else who might be curious

Has anyone heard anything about the University of St. Augustine's new Speech Language Pathology program? or does anyone know how the program is going from students who enrolled this fall?
They just got accreditation in my state and are in candidacy status to be ASHA accredited.

@snoves Unfortunately where I'm from, SLPAs aren't used or I would so love to do that. I subbed before I got my intervention job, and we only got paid about $60 a day. But I am for sure going to try my hardest for grad school, I'm just interested to see what everyones backup plans are! And thank you, congrats on your acceptances!
@SavSLP2Be Thats awesome that FL has SLTs! I wish we had it here. I'm from a small area so theres really not many options for me but I'm trying to save to relocate. Thanks for your input!

In Florida, you can work as an SLT for two years in the school system. That is what I am doing! I am basically doing the same things as the SLP's, I just can't bill or do evaluations, besides re-evals. Also, ABA Therapy is a good route that the person above me suggest. Another good thing would be being a para in ESE classrooms or a substitute!

Hi Everyone, I also applied to USAHS. As of today, they are reviewing applications and I was told 6 to 8 weeks for notifications. They plan on accepting 15 students. That is all I know so far.

Where are you guys located? I was informed that they are still trying to get permission to admit students from certain states since it is an online program.
I would email/call the program directly with your questions! They’re very friendly and helpful
