That's awesome. Especially when you consider cost of living in Arkansas! Congrats again on you and your partner landing a gig together. Academia is a crapshoot, so that really is an achievement.

Has anyone else gotten rejected everywhere? I'm still waiting on Columbia--not super hopeful, if everywhere else was a no, and if I can preemptively vent for a second: I work here at the university and it makes the humiliation even more poignant to be rejected from my own place of work, by so many faculty I know and work with often. Ughhhh. I was so looking forward to being in school next year and have no idea what to do now.  It seems like people don't really curse on these boards and I don't want to break any unspoken rules but ksfdjksalfdjksadlfjsadlfjdskl god this sucks 

Hi all, I haven't been a regular poster, but I just wanted to say a BIG thank you for forming the kind of community you guys do. Like the Yale poster said, GC can be super anxiety inducing (for no fault of the people posting on GC), but I have known it to be a very supportive, encouraging and warm community too. Thank you for being the people you are and I hope we cross paths in our academic careers or outside of them!

It depends on the school. Like @JustPoesieAlong said some places interview all candidates (some don't, but some do). For my slice of implied rejection, CU Boulder is only taking 4 people this cycle, and there's an acceptance and waitlist on the board. I've heard of a second acceptance through a friend while I've gotten nothing so...math. Depressing depressing math.

Wow! Seems like you've got quite the adventure ahead of you either way. Have you asked about childcare at your perspective programs? I know nothing about Kentucky or Nashville, but childcare in Southern California is no joke price-wise. Some programs offer on-campus childcare services which might be something to consider (UCR comes to mind). 
In any event, I was basically raised by a dog and I turned out just fine *scratches behind my ear with my foot*

Got into University of Georgia! I think, anyway. No email, just an update on the portal that says "Offer of admission." 
 
The user who got an error from U-Mich breaks my heart and awakens all my worst fears! I'm so scared of getting an email that says, "Oops, sorry, not you. Our bad." 

In at University of Arkansas, with a solid paying fellowship offer to boot! It's decision time! AAAHHH!

Does anyone know when Northeastern will start sending out decisions? What about Fordham? Stony Brook? 
If I haven't heard anything from CUNY, should I just chalk that up to an implied rejection? 
I hope all of you guys are dealing with the wait better than me....

Yup. 25 years as a Native rights attorney and some youngins in college, although both near graduation. I’m very fortunate to be married to a physician who is very supportive of me going back to school—as she initially commented “hey, in terms of a midlife crisis, you could be buying some obnoxious car (several of my buddies have gone all out and bought Teslas in recent years) in some ridiculous color, so this is fairly nerdy and benign mid-life crisis.”

My husband is also a fiction writer and had dreams of going onto an MFA, but his main goal was a PhD so we went for that. He'll continue his creative writing during his PhD anyway.

Late to the game and just noticed this thread. I'm glad I am in good company here! Implied rejection to GW. No word from Hopkins yet, but should hear from both soon. Fingers crossed!

Been an absolutely ridiculous last three hours: I'm in a strange time zone for vacation right now and I got a call from my top top top favourite program Princeton at 3 in the morning, subsequently can't fall back asleep, then checked email and found out a UPenn rejection in the next hour, tried to fall asleep again, and was waken up by a call from Rutgers, and now it's 6 in the morning. 

Won a Graduate College Distinguished Fellowship from Illinois. 
 
I don't know what to do.

Just got accepted by Connecticut.

I love Philly so much. I’m sad I won’t have longer than a tiny year to enjoy the city.
