  1. Not to be cheeky, but it obviously depends on what the base level of that 50% increase. 5 to 10k annually is much easier to get than 10 to 20 k, and so on...
  2. I also have no full time work experience and am figuring out what to do based on that (aka what will DC look like in June 2020 as opposed to now?). I know Harris' blog post said over the past two years, the MPP class size doubled twice. So I have no idea what that means for the total math this year based on what you said.
  3. There seems to be a split here LOL. I would love for results to come out tomorrow. I just want this process to be over.
  4. So HKS + WWS may both be on Thursday after all. What have we done.
  5. I didn't apply, but they seem very sweet looking at their blog. Good luck!
  6. Thank you! This is quite useful. The IO thing shocks me, but my heart's always been with US organizations anyway :).
  7. Points 4 and 5 were concerns for me as well. They tried to say they had economies of scale and that's why class size is increasing, but it still arguably detracts from the educational experience. I'm also much more of a fan of the HKS educational model (great pol electives and practical training) than theory-based UChicago. That all being said, Harris is a wonderful school and I'm relieved to have one non-NYC option.
  8. Have people ever been able to negotiate from 0? That doesn't seem like a great starting point. And how much have they typically awarded appealers?
  9. Similar situation. For many reasons I am leaning Harris over Columbia. I've lived on the UChicago campus for a while and the crime rate is obviously above average but they have a lot of police to help out with that. It has gotten markedly better over the past 5 years. That being said, common sense is one of the best protectors you can have. Criminals look for easy targets, and there are more of those than you think (going alone at night, wearing headphones in the streets--consequences are worse in summer). South campus is the least safe part but there has been a lot of gentrification of that area, so the 'locus' of crime has been pushed south of the university a few more streets.
  10. My decision has not been made since other decisions have not come in (LOL). I'm basically assuming I'm going to Harris at this point because SIPA didn't give me anything and they're $40k more expensive. WWS is pretty much everyone's lifeboat at this point for aid (sad but true). Barring that, I may have to look into jobs. I guess my logic is that if I get a job people usually get Masters'/is extremely prestigious entry-level, I'll defer or not go. But that's far down the road and unlikely.
  11. It probably was. Someone did the same thing for HKS and scared us all over there. I would love for a decision today since the nor'easter does not seem to be going outside New England.
  12. Can log in to MYFAID, no counselors listed. No changes on anything from yesterday. This Nor'easter is pretty bad. I can see snow falling sideways from my window and it's been quite windy. I'm glad my school and H are closed today.
  13. I love your username. It's probably my favorite catchphrase.
  14. Same here.
  15. Agreed. Please HKS and WWS, don't both come out on Thursday. That would be rough.
  16. That's a fair concern. I'll keep my eye out if it comes to that...
  17. Because the bills are still high or because Congress might withdraw it?
  18. This is pretty solid advice, but doesn't working in public service for 10 years change the calculus of this?
  19. Great job! You all are rockstars, funding or not. Treat yourself tonight.
  20. That makes sense. I'm researching religious freedom in Eastern Europe this summer and am very excited to learn more about it.
  21. Good to know. I may look into the jobs search (a bit late) if WWS doesn't come through.
  22. I put myself in a pickle for funding (being without FT work experience will do that). Basically Princeton or bust for substantial $$$$. LOL hopefully I will have your luck.
  23. Oh my goodness, congratulations! Getting full funding for an MA is ridiculously hard, especially fo a top program like yours. I'm out of reactions so consider this a love react.
  24. What a great cycle and background! So you're also straight out of college but basically trained full time throughout your education, right? I hope funding worked out for you. I attend a LAC as well but they are very progressive so they threw out the emphasis on classics a while ago (something I would have liked in the curriculum). Is there any reason you didn't apply to HKS or WWS?
