  2. @andnothing hang in there! As much as it pains me, some schools don't make decisions for months, so there is still time. I feel you though; if I don't get funding I'm gonna need to find out what I can do until the next cycle.
  3. Has anyone gotten an acceptance or rejection letter through the mail? Do any schools do that anymore, or is it just too inefficient?
  4. @TakeruK Thank you! I've already applied for one, but there is another I could apply for that would be a stretch (the first gen/disadvantaged/disability graduate students) and I don't feel like I should be applying for that, since I'm not a first gen grad student, don't belong to an underrepresented group in graduate study, and the only recorded disabilities I have are mental illnesses or hearing loss. Do you have any advice on how to ask without being pushy?
  5. @whitmanifesto They typically announce acceptances/rejections second week of February. I know she just had a few advisees finish the program, but I don't know if she's taking on any more.

  7. I was recently admitted to an MA program with early admission to be considered for a teaching assistantship in communications. On 1/17 they said in my acceptance email that, "The faculty will be meeting soon to make assistantship decisions, so I should have more information on that for you in the near future." Is it rude to ask when that near future would be since I would like to know whether I need to apply for a fellowship separately?
  8. I'm really sorry about losing your job. Who knows? It may open up another opportunity for you. Don't lose hope!
  9. JR is a legend. What a great trip to Evanston.

  10. @sriracha18 Congrats on the conference and the interview with Madison. Update on Northwestern: JR is amazing and a legend! I was so happy to get to talk to them about the program!
  11. Pokémon Academy Fossil Revival, PhD (F18) Rejected via E-mail on 24 Jan 2018 24 Jan 2018 I guess I'll just join Team Rocket :/ That's a great fall back plan hahaha
  12. @GreenEyedTrombonist I don't know it might be too late I think, but I might.
  13. @Psygeek Don't lose hope!
  14. OMG so I just talked to my advisor yesterday, and we were talking about my application for Colorado State. So long story short I went to pay my application fee and it gave me an error and kicked me out of my account, and I haven't been able to get back to my landing page. I tried emailing them but got no response back. My advisor is a recommender and the one who said to apply to Colorado, so I felt so bad telling her that I didn't know if my application was submitted. shrug
  15. My two first classes of teaching assistantships and a teaching practicum actually went smoothly, now for the long drive to Northwestern tomorrow, but I'm not feeling nearly as panicked as I did for my first meeting.
  16. peace sign
  17. Very cool, those are such promising fields and great programs from what I've heard. Good luck!
  18. @twin35 so did I, I think it counts for the PhD, but I'm not 100%. It doesn't specify.
  19. @twin35Yeah for the Phd, program. Typically the Comm Arts admits 3-5 for the masters total https://tools.grad.wisc.edu/webextras/education/academicprograms/profiles/201MA.pdf and 10- 15 total for the Phd for Comm Arts.https://tools.grad.wisc.edu/webextras/education/academicprograms/profiles/201PHD.pdf. So how many from each department varies.
  20. I'm feeling like this stress is lowering my immune system... and just in time for a rough flu season
