  1. I don’t know, I was just honest about my needs, and pointed to WUSTL giving me way more, and SSA decided to give 3k additional per year. I was hoping for more, but I think it really comes down to available funds at this late point, and I know this year was more competitive than most. They’re the program for me overall once I really thought about it, so I accepted their offer.
  2. I filled out a form, but haven't heard back yet. I visited Chicago SSA this last week and really liked it, but it's significantly more expensive that WUSTL so I'm hoping for more funding. It is a bit late in the year, though, so hopefully there's $$ available still.
  3. I got into Chicago with a 20k/year Scholarship!
  4. WUSTL offered me 55k, so I’m trying to get a bit more from Chicago. I’m also doing a campus visit/class sit-in this week, so I’ll know for sure soon
  5. I got in with a 20k/year scholarship! Haven't got an email yet, but was told in the portal.
  6. A link appeared in the application portal today that says "decision documents" and my heart jumped out of my chest, but when I click it there's nothing there. I'm trying to to obsess over the possibility of it appearing any day now, haha. I'm so ready to make a decision and move forward with getting ready to move and everything this summer! Has anyone who applied by the April 1st deadline heard anything yet?

  8. I feel like especially for more macro stuff the AM would be just as useful. Everyone I’ve talked to considers the degree to be equivalent to an MSW, and I feel like when it comes down to it it would really just depend on your practicum experience and stuff. I do like that the idea of a slightly more interdisciplinary option, though. I would also say that you should really base your decision on a financial future as well, which I hate to say, but there are a lot of good programs and almost all of them are similar. Again, I feel like practicum matters a little more than the programs themselves. That said, I applied to only expensive programs this year seeking funding, and decided that if I didn’t get funding I would work a year and apply to a wider variety of programs, as I’m in my last year of a bachelors degree as well. I got into University of Denver ($32k scholarship), USC ($10k scholarship) Washington University in St. Louis / WashU ($55k scholarship), and I should hear back from University of Chicago any day (they tend to be the most generous program regarding funding, but I applied for their April 1 deadline). That 55k scholarship at WUSTL makes it cheaper than in-state tuition at a state school, so for me that program would be worth it. Going over 100k in debt for an MSW just wouldn’t make sense to me...I’d say rally hard for scholarships, then pick your best option. But apply for state schools too...there’s overlap in practicum experiences and they’re a fraction of the price...but there also isn’t as much funding available.
  9. Programs are also generous about extensions so you can make a good decision. These schools make a lot of money off these programs and they want us to go there. Some of them might be competitive, but once they accept you they want to make you happy and to make informed decisions. If you’re in danger of crossing a deadline, just ask for an extension.
  10. I got mine a couple days later, but they weren’t nearly as significant as those received from other schools.
  11. Yeah I hope they get back quicker after the April 1 deadline, but feel like I already have solid options. I’d just be into Chicago if the timeline works out. I’m hesitant to ask for extensions from schools that are offering significant scholarships. Has anyone done this?
  12. You applied to earlier deadlines. I applied late February, but was told my app wouldn’t be viewed until after the April 1 deadline because they don’t do rolling admission...this thread is for people that applied for the April 1 deadline (decisions will probably come out late in April? Maybe the 15th?) I feel optimistic about getting in, just am curious about timelines because I’ve been accepted to all the other schools already and have until May 1 to make a decision . I went to the DU admitted students day today and was really impressed. Headed to Saint Louis tomorrow. Decisions will be difficult between schools I received adequate funding!
  13. Did anyone apply by the April 1st deadline?
  14. Anyone out there apply by the April 1 deadline at University of Chicago SSA? I applied in February and am awaiting my decision so I can commit to a program!
  15. I would call them. My experience with USC so far is that they’re horrible communicators. Check your spam, but maybe they just forgot to let you know? That or they’re disorganized and taking a long time. I know they do rolling admission.
