Don’t feed trolls. They have a unique combination of being generally attention needy and ubiquitously putative.

Oh lord no. I’m double blue.

As GSG has aptly placed it, and much more diplomatically than myself, but chill. This going forward is a brand new world, where thought and reliance on how the process previously occurred will at best be fraught with peril, and at worse an entirely inaccurate reflection on how things will now be or how you wish them to be....

Nontraditional Profile Evaluation - CS PhD 2021

Quick Q: all really solid programs and you have a legit opportunity, but why no U of Washington? -
If you don’t see an issue: one, why ask? Two, you probably asked as there is some some internal suspicion, albeit small, that there is something janky about all this. Three, while you have full personal autonomy to make such a decision, don’t think there might be some institutional and peer blowback. Four, the fact you are fairly resistant to any of the counsel gracious provided, is telling.

Which schools match other schools?
Boolakanaka replied to gradddygrad's topic in Government Affairs Forum
I ditto GSGs comments, especially about next year being not just competitive, but there are many financial issues that will be coming home to roost, even for the most well funded/endowed of programs. The combination of those two items will be bracing for many folks... -

Wagner MPA vs. MBA (Nonprofit Management)
Boolakanaka replied to switters's topic in Government Affairs Forum
If you are considering a MBA for non-profit management then Yale SOM is the premier school. In fact, it wasn’t a mba program until the late 1980s. -
Just to add a little banter to the discussion, the LSAT has a fairly accurate barometer if you will be able to pass the bar exam. I think the figure I have seen, that at numbers below 155, place you at a 50-50 chance of passing, and below 150, less than a 25 percent you will ever pass the bar. What is even more incredulous, is that there are law schools out there that have an average lsat score of around 150 or so, e.g. like Capital University Law, where Rep. Jim Jordan went, and maybe why he never passed the bar.

Yep, I think his problem would not be per se Jackson, but rather SOM. They want to see a previous and delineated connectivity to service—their specific approach to an MBA is becoming more and more popular, and is a niche many are finding appealing.

I would certainly look at Yale SOM (probably the premier mba program with a long history of educating executives for the non-profit sector, in fact, it was not an MBA program until the late 1980s) in combo with the Jackson School. Close proximity to NYC and very extensive alum connectivity.

That said, how do you explain those periods in your CV—it’s the first question I would be asking.

Boolakanaka replied to taylorj's question in Questions and Answers
Some do, some do not. If the program is highly ranked and has resources, it would not be surprising at all for them to do a check on social media. They are not just checking on you, but also preserving the integrity of the program.- 13 replies

Certainly, other programs will follow. Much of this is to protect existing students and previously made financial commitments.
