  1. My ONE acceptance so far has come from someone who I would have not considered my closest research match, but they wanted me. So, there is definitely still hope! Especially for you since you had 7 interviews!! Don't let this process get to you. You're definitely a very qualified applicant, and there are so many factors that go into these decisions. Sending you all the best vibes
  2. I hope there is some secret message embedded that we didn't catch!! I think the ghosting thing is disappointing, but I also feel like it can be a little telling, not necessarily about admission possibilities but about the POI themselves. Then again, I may be reading too much into things lol
  3. This seems like a neutral response, not indicative of anything. At least you didn't have a POI ghost you which is what happened to me... I mean I've had romantic interests ghost me... sure, but a professor I interviewed with? That's a whole different level of hurt ?
  4. Hi all! In the midst of application season, I came across a thread on a different website where people discussed factors they considered when looking at psychology graduate applications, and one individual was very clear that they looked for a "high tier undergraduate institution". Some people pointed out that someone's choice of undergraduate institution could be situational/ circumstantial and not be reflective of that person's intellectual capacity, but that person insisted that it had to do with their aptitude. Personally, I am a bit biased in this situation because I graduated from a virtually unranked institution. This did not have anything to do with my aptitude as I graduated top of my class and had 95th+ percentile standardized test scores, excellent extra-curriculars, etc. I am a low-income, first-generation student, and, even with financial aid, there was no way I could financially be able to attend somewhere like UT- Austin even though I had automatic acceptance because of my credentials. So, in my humble opinion, it seems somewhat unfair and elitist (?) to disregard someone's application solely because of their undergraduate institution... My questions for you all are: In your opinion, what is your take on this issue? How much should undergraduate institution matter for graduate applications? Is it fair? Do you think it's completely valid even if it's unfair? I'm speaking of instances in which the individual has great qualifications and the *blip* on their application is their undergrad institution, not lack of research, bad letters, etc.
  5. Yes, I only plan on emailing the schools I interviewed for! I am just a bit of at a loss as to how to format the emails and what to include in them. Thank you
  6. Any advice on how to withdraw your application from consideration from programs you've interviewed for? I haven't been accepted, so it's not like I'm turning down an offer. I just plan on accepting the offer I have, so I would like to withdraw my application from further consideration. Any suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
  7. Hi! Welcome to the forum!! The thread below is where many people have been talking about post-interview experiences. It helps if we all post related information in the same thread! Creating separate threads for similar topics can clutter the forum.

  9. Grad Cafe didn't let me like this lol. Excited for you!! Congrats!!
  10. Not yet, but I was told it will be coming soon! Thank you for being so supportive throughout this whole process. ?❤️ You're awesome, and I'm so glad your hard work is paying off!!! I'm glad you caught that I was joking lol! Thanks for your advice! I think I will reach out and ask them some questions.
  11. I'm so excited about the offer I have especially after just finishing my other interviews, but I just feel like it's too good to be true?? My brain is just like, "There has to be a catch. It can't be as awesome as it seems." I'm thinking about reaching out to some students to bombard them with questions, but idk. What do you all think?
  12. Me too, please! Congrats and thanks!

  14. I got an acceptance today and cried. I'm going to grad school, y'all ? Sharing this process with all of you has definitely helped make this crazy application process a lot more bearable. Wishing acceptances on everyone!
  15. Hi everyone! Just wanted to revive this thread because I saw another thread for advice was brought up again... but that thread is from 2016 I think it would be more helpful if we all just stuck in one place! But, of course, you're free to do what your heart desires
  16. Also, I'm applying for research positions because my chances are not looking good. Any suggestions on who I should list as professional references? I did some research as an undergrad, but I would much prefer to list the grad student as a reference than the professor who was in charge of the lab. Can I list the person my current supervisor at my internship even though they're field is not psych? Any insight helps!
  17. Dear schools/POIs who I have not heard back from, Just REJECT ME already!! Please & thanks.
  18. University Of Mars Clinical Psychology, PhD (F19) Rejected via E-mail on 6 Feb 2019 ♦ U 6 Feb 2019 report spam "We have received an unprecedented number of exceptionally qualified applicants this year from across the Cosmos, including many from a hitherto undiscovered parallel dimension. Accordingly, we regrettably were forced to deny admission to many of Earth's mightiest applicants." Whoever posted this: I would like to be your friend. Thanks.
  19. I doubt this would come up in an interview. Many applicants take time between application cycles for various reasons. If it does come up, you should just say you didn't apply due to life circumstances. I don't think it's necessary to give exact details. Again though, I really doubt they would ask. They could, however, ask what you have been doing to gain experience relevant in your field since then. Hope this is somewhat helpful!

  21. I have found a new stage in my anxiety: Blocking email notifications, so I won't get caught off guard. Bad news isn't there if you don't see it. Logic.
  22. Even though I'm worrying myself sick about getting accepted into grad school, I know things will fall into place where they're meant to be. Now to just continue reminding myself of that every 5 minutes!
  23. I think so, yes. You could also call and ask about the admissions progress in your program if you want to remain anonymous (e.g. ask about interview invites).
