  1. Interviewed at a program I loved. Sadly, based on the conversations I had during the interview, I don't think I'll be hearing good news.

  3. I fell IN LOVE with the program I interviewed at, and I know it'll be really disappointing if I don't get in. I really didn't expect to love it as much as I did!
  4. A poster who got a Rutgers PsyD interview mentioned their interview date was 2/21!
  5. Are you sure you're not interested in research as a career? If you're interested in practicing exclusively, a master's might be more up your alley. I strongly suggest taking some time off to explore your interests and evaluate WHY you want a PhD/PsyD. That is, what is your end goal with the doctoral degree? This is something that I needed to do, and it helped reaffirm my interest in a PhD. However, for some people, it helps them realize that a PhD/PsyD is NOT what they want to do. It is possible that you get accepted somewhere, but if you don't clearly know what your career goals are or why you want that degree, you may end up unhappy in a doctoral program. Also, I highly suggest you talk to your advisors/mentors and see what they recommend for your particular case.
  6. I know TONS of clinical programs have their interviews this weekend. That said, I want to send all the best vibes to everyone for their interviews!!! You've worked really hard to get to this point, and this is your chance to really blow them away! BUT don't forget to breathe and enjoy meeting the people who will most likely be your colleagues or collaborators in the future. Also, remember to assess how well the program fits YOU. Good luck everyone!!
  7. Considering their last clinical interview date is next week, I would assume they have all been sent out. Good luck with your other programs!

  10. WHOOOOOO! I'm so happy for you. You go girl!!
  11. Thank you; I will try to think good vibes! It's unfortunate that you weren't able to apply to your mentor, but I'm sure if you get accepted, they will be happy to have you around and there may be collaborations across your labs!
  12. Thank you so much for all this. I was really about to convince myself that I had gotten an interview invite by some kind of accident or bad joke. Following your advice, I will take the things that get me pumped and feeling good about myself-- my passion for learning, the field, and the research I want to pursue--into the interview and do my best!
  13. This. I feel this so much right now. I feel like I may end up feeling like I wasted my time and effort. You're right though. I still need to give it my best effort. If I don't, I know later I would say, "Maybe if I had tried, I would have been the one who was picked." In the end, this application/admissions process is always brutal. Congrats on that interview, and here's to hoping you get in this time!
  14. In one of the programs I'm interviewing at, my POI has a strong record of accepting students from inside the lab. I found out one of their current lab members will be interviewing for a graduate student spot at this POIs lab. I really wish this information would have not reached me because now it's really freaking me out. I know this is a situation completely out of my control, and I shouldn't let it affect my mindset entering the interview. However, I cannot help but to feel somewhat discouraged and hopeless. This program is my top pick. Any advice on how to counteract the negative mindset before going into the interview?

  16. Houston has sent out all invites, and I'm pretty certain DePaul has too. I don't know about Central Florida

  18. Not even 24 hours later, I am back again. I waited to book a flight for some interviews just in case I was offered an interview to program X with the same interview date. I would have chosen program X over the invite I had (which I had not confirmed attendance for yet). Welp, I got rejected from program X, now have to book my flight, and of course the price went up by almost $100 in the past day. WHY DO I DO THIS TO MYSELF?! Okay, rant over, and I will force myself not to post on this thread for a good while.

  20. Penn State has interviews next weekend, so I assumed rejection from them
  21. With attending grad school looking actually possible for the fall, I have now begun freaking out and convincing myself I can't do a PhD program. I was so excited about my interviews, but now I'm simply terrified..

  24. Is a dark gray suit okay for clinical interviews? Or should I exchange it for black? I didn't think it would be a huge difference, but I've seen conflicting opinions.
  25. Hey everyone! I need some advice. I have two interviews in the same week. For one interview, I said I would confirm my attendance later that week, and they said it was fine. I confirmed the day after, but I got no response. I need to book my flight soon since I'll be heading from one interview to the other, but I'm nervous my interview slot for this university will not be reserved because I didn't get a response after my confirmation. Should I follow up with a call or email? Or should I just book my flight and trust that my spot has been reserved since I did email my confirmation?
