Update in case anyone is wondering:
Princeton and University of Oregon have extended all of their interview invites.
University of Boulder CO says invites should be sent out in the coming week.

This is my third round of applications so I understand how easy it is to get down on yourself when those invites/acceptances aren't rolling in. For me, it is a constant process of reminding myself how competitive these programs are and reminding myself to be proud of my accomplishments up to this point. Even just following through to submit 18 applications is a HUGE ACCOMPLISHMENT! I barely survived doing 10 this year... Your value is NOT dependent on your acceptance into a program or your recognition by a school. Every single one of us applying to these programs shows a tremendous amount of commitment and dedication to bettering the quality of life in our society and that is something to be proud of in itself. Each time you go through these application cycles you become smarter, stronger, and a better person by learning patience, how to manage anxiety, and how to process rejection. Most of all, I just remind myself that rejection is a universal experience, one that is felt by EVERYONE at some point in their life. Knowing there are others out there, in the exact same position, experiencing the same wave of emotions as I, gives me confidence that we will all come out on the other side as better people. Be your own #1 cheerleader and remember to also build yourself up and not just your applications. Confidence will naturally follow, even in the face of self-doubt and rejection. ❤️

I am 5+ years older than the "cohort" of applicants in the research lab I'm working in (they're 21-23? Recent grads, pretty young, both from a maturity aspect and professionally) and can sympathize with the both of you. I however have real life experience and 4+ years in this clinical research field that they do not, so it gives me a bit of a confidence booster that my application materials were much stronger in this aspect. I don't let this get to me whatsoever. Also, this being my 3rd app round, I feel my experiences have truly narrowed down my interests and I know what I want to do with my career, for the rest of my life. This helped me create very strong SOPs this app round vs. the disastrous mess I submitted the last 2 rounds (I was so naive lol).
You can learn a lot from rejections.. it's all about how you respond & persevere

Fully get that! I'm just sorry to hear it's been such a rough ride for you along the way. I'm not sure how old you are, but my psych degree was my second degree, and I took 2 years off in-between the two. So I am about 5-6 years older than those I graduated with and will be 34/35 when I finish (if I get in this year). It can be frustrating to see those younger than you reaching a goal you have so much earlier than you ever could have, but if this is what you truly want, I think it's worth it! Not to mention, I know many graduate students who are older, it's not at all uncommon. Anyways, not trying to convince you one way or another, but just suggesting that being older and getting into the career you want later in life isn't necessarily a bad thing. If anything, I have heard some of the older students are better able to manage the stress and work/life balance of graduate studies, so I could be to your benefit! Wishing you all the best with whatever you choose!

This would be me if I wasn’t moving countries! For now I just have one rescue kitty and luckily cats are much easier to import than dogs. What type of fur babies do you have?

I don't think it's necessary. I also don't think it'll hurt or help you either way since it's assumed that you'll be applying to people that have similar interests. Almost all the schools/POIs I've applied to have worked together/collaborated at some point. I'd say It's expected that most of the people you're applying to will know each other. I'd probably lean more towards not saying anything though as to not give the impression that you favor this other PI you're applying to (even if you don't have a preference).

Hello everyone, a little late to the party!!
I applied to Stanford, NYU, and Wisconsin Madison Social.
    Claremont graduate Positive.
    Virginia Tech and Clemson IO.
The only one I heard back from is VT and I have been invited to their interview day mid Feb.
Feels good to have something on the table but cannot help but feel that the rest are rejections!

Finally got my first interview invite! The recruitment weekend for the University of Toronto experimental psychology PhD program (not OISE clinical/counselling) is January 24th & 25th. Felt like this fits better in this thread rather than the Canadian Clinical Psych thread, as my area of interest is not clinical.
    SO excited!

I’m sure some of you have seen the CV of Failures, but I wanted to share it anyway because it reminds me that a rejection isn’t the end of the line for us. Even if we don’t get accepted this time around, it doesn’t mean that we won’t make it eventually. I know it’s far too early to know the status of our applications, but a lot of us are anxiously anticipating results knowing that there is a slim probability we will be the lucky ones selected by the adcomms. So I just wanted to share this as inspiration for all of us that the road to success is paved with some failure along the way.
