Accepted to CalArts!
I think you're right @latenightlatte and I agree that the interview call was lovely however brief!
Probably won't accept since the funding from UCSD is hard to ignore. Hope everyone is doing alright amidst all this madness.

Ugggggggggh . go away. stop externalizing your own issues onto people who are just trying to use this forum to share information. we are not babies we do not need a dad. go away
I am aware that Hunter students are struggling right now. everyone is struggling right now. Like if you want to be a banker or work in tech just go do that. Or please start messaging people who are going to the $$$$ MFA programs. I know that arguing with trolls just eggs them on but please stop mansplaining. No one asked your opinion and in fact someone even made an account just to ask you to please stop sharing your opinion.

I did as well, maybe they're not having the enrollment rate they expected from their accepted applicants and want to pad out their numbers a bit?
Did anyone go to the interview day? Did it seem poorly attended? I am trying to think of a way to ask why they're doing a second round so late without seeming like a prick.

Updated report on best art programs - 2020. This list is arbitrary in some ways but the shift in rankings is really interesting! Of course it comes down to the fit and feel of a program for each artist.

Called RISD and they said they don’t invite all the admitted students to interview...which means that if you haven’t heard back from them there’s still chance!

For anyone who is still just waiting to hear back from schools, I just got an interview request from Tyler. They sent out the first round of interview requests mid January, so there is hope.

Heyyy all,
This is my second time applying. I applied to four programs last year and was rejected from three and waitlisted at one. Stung at first but I was ultimately sooo grateful for the extra year and feel that my work is in a much better place-- definitely feel ready!. This year I'm applying, for painting/printmaking, to the following:
UCSD
UCLA
RISD
CalArts
Yale
VCU
Shooting high. We'll see! Pretty anxious to start hearing.

Caved and reached out to RISD admissions regarding their decision timeline and this was the response. So if you're in the same boat and haven't heard anything, I guess this is the worst case. For reference, I applied to their Printmaking MFA.

EXTREMELY poor taste bashing a schools' faculty on an internet forum after an interview regardless of how you perceived the interview to have gone. This could very well come back to haunt you. You have no idea what faculty might be lurking on these forums and some schools include current MFA students in the application review process, who might be active or lurking these forums as well.

Just got accepted to SVA fine art! But with very little funding (maybe because I’m international?) Has anyone heard from Columbia or Calarts? Saw someone posting in another forum about receiving interview from calarts film/video and I’m getting a little anxious...

Just got an invitation to interview with University of Michigan! I know it's still early but after no hits on my analytics I was feeling pretty bleak about the situation. Anyway this is my third year of applications so fingers crossed!

To those that are asking about UCSB, a photographer I know is applying to all three UC schools and has interviews with two of them this week. Not sure of any other details, but I hope it offers some clarity!
Also, I just got a call from the Drawing/Painting/Printmaking dept head at University of Minnesota — I was accepted!!

Me too! I can hardly focus on anything, it's ridiculous. I have dinner plans with my partner at a nice restaurant to either celebrate or cheer up, ha!
I applied last year for photo and again this year. I didn't get an interview but I was finishing up my BFA while applying and I hear they pretty much flat out don't accept people who will be fresh out of undergrad. Here's to hoping I do better this year. Good luck to you!

For sure. I feel like I'm mostly checking my analytics as something to do while I wait to get real news back! It's certainly not necessarily an indication that a school likes you because they looked at your website (and not a bad thing if you don't get hits from the areas your schools are in), but it's kind of fun to see cities you're looking for pop up.

Hey, long-time listener, first-time caller.
I'm not worried about website traffic. At the Yale open house, an applicant asked the panel members if websites ever come into play. They said that frequently, there isn't enough time to look through websites. Additionally, whatever you have on your website that you're hoping for schools to come across should BE IN your application so they don't miss anything important.
