  1. Since you are applying for PhD in the US, your Grade 10 and 12 rankings or other activities from high school doesn't matter. Instead focus on your accomplishments, experience and activities in university (Bachelor's and Masters degrees). Use active language, avoid vague words like "I hope to...." I would suggest to move diversity paragraph towards the end of the SOP (second last or last paragraph). Don't say list/tell the school about your background but focus on how it has shaped you and how will bring those perspectives to their school and what value add it will be for the school.
  2. If you are still looking for someone to review your application documents, I would be happy to take a look. All the best!

  4. Is anyone else also applying for PhD programs at UMichigan this year? Or has past experience with the applications? I am preparing my application but feeling stuck with distinguishing between Statement of Purpose and Personal Statement, making each one stand out and not sound repetitive. Any suggestions on how to structure these two pieces and what to cover in each one? Or if someone is willing to share theirs, I would really appreciate it. If you are applying this year and would like someone to proofread, I would be happy to help. I will probably be reaching out to this community for review and feedback of my own documents so I am happy to help other applicants in any way I can. All the best everyone!

  7. Hello, all! I am prepping my PhD applications including my statement of purpose, personal statement and letter of intent. Would anyone be willing to share theirs with me so I can get an idea of what it should include (either here or message me, if you want to not have it out publicly). I have quite a few years of work experience in different research related roles. I have completed a MSc and will be completing another MA in May. If anyone has any general advice about writing these as well, I would really appreciate that too. I have shortlisted 2 school in the States (UMichigan and UChicago) and a few in Canada (Toronto, McGill) so far. Thanks!
