Rejection from Williams, the only other MA program I applied to.

I feel like my head is a pot of boiling water that's about to boil over. If I don't hear anything by EOD eastern time today, I'm officially going to lose all patience and email all the programs I have yet to hear from. At least I have an excuse (funding office for MA program would like me to get back to them ASAP.) Sigh. I'm optimistic that I'll hear good things from a PhD program soon!!

You & me both!! Although I have a small bit of hope for the weekend. I've heard stories on the GC of people getting accepted in the late evening (like 10pm), and on Saturdays and Sundays! -

Wow!! End of March... Good on you for surviving that long! I feel like it's been an eternity, especially since when I spoke to my POI last year, he told me to email him once I'd submitted my application, and when I did, he never replied. Ah! I haven't found a legitimate "excuse" to email him since. I sure hope they start notifying soon! And that they're in high spirits after spring break Thank you so much!

That's very interesting! I assume they are all rejections too, but ... you never know. Fingers crossed for all of us. I hope we can all be together and storm the Bryn Mawr castle!!!!

Same here for UDel & UNC. Which programs do you apply to for those schools? MA or PhD?

psychdork, that's really inspiring! I love that you're so persistent and believe so strong in this Embarrassment is a good word -- if I have to do this again, I'll be really embarrassed to go to my professors and ask for letters again... The cost doesn't help, either. I'm hoping that this Master's program I've been admitted to will work out, or of course, I hope that I'll miraculously get into a PhD program this year, but if not... it's encouraging to know that there are other people (you! ) out there who don't give up. I really hope you get in this round!!! Persistence will be rewarded, eventually. That's something I firmly believe. And like Steve Jobs and many others have said: it's important that you love what you do. I love what I do. It's clear that you love what you do. And we'll keep pursuing it no matter what. I have to admit, that I sort of wish we were back in the (insert any century pre-21st century here) Century, because I'm sure that applying to graduate school has never been more competitive, more emotionally draining, or more exhausting. I wish you all the best! I hope you keep us posted!

Aggg. I'm sorry. I know the feeling. Last year I had 5 straight rejections and I only applied to 5 programs. Take heart, though, you still have 6 programs to hear from. -
Haha! YES! I still have gift cards from Christmas too! Awesome! I've been eyeballing this in my online window shopping. It keeps popping up on ads around the web... but... as if I need another necklace.

If I decide to re-apply to grad school for my PhD once I get my MA in two years (assuming a PhD offer doesn't magically appear by April 15), I'd most likely be re-applying to grad school for my PhD. Anyone been down this road three times? Four? How was your experience?

It does! Thank you! I saw that they notified a couple people already, but being optimistic I'd like to think that those few people were at the top of the list and they're still going to accept some more.
