I definitely second the bit about interactive web tours. I was going to suggest it myself! Also, Google lots of pictures. It's not as good as visiting the campus itself, but it is better than nothing. My best friend went to graduate school at a place she never visited -- she LOVED it. I know every case is different, but I thought it might be nice for you to hear.

I personally do not think you should go into debt for something you are not passionate about -- it might be best to try again next year. Hopefully you'll get into a program you are excited about!

Well, everyone covered everything else, so I'll share some ways to hide pit stains (well, I'll send you links): http://www.wikihow.com/Hide-Sweat-Stains www.mademan.com/mm/how-hide-sweat-stains.html http://www.bye-bye-excessive-armpit-sweat.com/sweat-shields.html (I've never tried any of these methods because I do not have this problem, so I cannot personally endorse any of them.)

Do professors care if you wear sweatpants all the time?

I am personally uncomfortable if I leave the house in sweats. I like people to see me at my best. -
I second everything Masha said. It might also be helpful to ask what sort of projects/research she is planning for the upcoming academic year.

I'm worried about that too, which is why I have been keeping an eye out for apartments now, but I don't know if I'll want to make anything official until June or July (I'm hoping to start my lease in August).

Msafiri, those are great tips! I will keep those in mind, especially the part about waiting to lease because the prices will go down. I'm already looking for places to move to in August (I know, it's early...). I wanted some peace of mind, but I guess I will wait. My former college town had apartments and houses filled up for fall by spring, which is where my anxiety about housing comes in.

Ha, I missed the part about where the quote is about decision making. My bad! Sorry. I'll leave the post up for you all to enjoy anyway.

"Humor is the great thing, the saving thing. The minute it crops up, all our hardnesses yield, all our irritations and resentments flit away and a sunny spirit takes their place." -- Mark Twain, "What Paul Bourget Thinks of Us?" (1897) Basically, I think retaining your sense of humor during grad school will be important -- there will be lots of hard times, for sure, but one must always remember to laugh and enjoy life.
