  1. If anyone is attending UNB clinical in the fall, please let me know via PM. I'm planning on making a Facebook group for us!
  2. I was accepted to UNB's clinical program a month ago! Still waiting to hear from Ryerson, Saskatchewan, and UBC Okanagan.
  3. Since York is a CPA-accredited program, accepted applicants should have until April 15 to accept (according to their rules).
  4. GPA isn't everything when it comes to clinical admissions. If you have high GRE's along with a high GPA and strong research experience, then you'll be a good candidate. I was a bit over the minimum for UNB and I was still accepted, but I also had high GRE scores and a few pubs.
  5. Carleton and UOttawa both don't require the GRE (even though Carleton is an English program/university).
  6. I would definitely start no earlier than September.
  7. I think the same poster also made a post about North Texas a few days ago as well.
  8. It was similar with me. I never heard back after my preliminary Skype interview with my POI.
  9. The counseling program is still CPA accredited (one of the few in Canada that is actually), so they really should be abiding by the April 15 standard. Definitely mention the funding aspect, and also ask about the CPA-mandated April 15 deadline (http://www.cpa.ca/accreditation/resources/). I feel it's valid to want to know about the funding beforehand.
  10. I'm surprised they don't use the April 15 deadline that everyone else uses. I would tell them that you'll let them know as soon as possible and ask for an extension if you don't hear back before the deadline. EDIT: Just looked it up, CPA requires that schools give applicants until April 15 to make a decision. U of C is accredited, so they need to abide by this.
  11. Update: not passed on to the national competition. I'm really bummed about it since I won the CGS last year (had to decline because I wasn't accepted anywhere). My application had even improved from last year too. It's just such a dejecting and random process...
  12. Well this is going to help my anxiety....congrats though!
  13. They're so slow this year....my this time last year I had already heard if my application was being forwarded to the final round (I'm a direct applicant).
  14. This is so true. In my experience, there are a lot of political, behind-the-scenes, stuff that takes place to determine which POIs even get to accept students, so there are a lot of factors out of the control of applicants even.
  15. Could the person who got the acceptance at Sam Houston PM me please? And congrats!
  16. The anxiety of schools getting back to me is really getting to me...
  17. I'm currently in the process of creating a rating list to score the different schools on a variety of measures (e.g., specific clinical training, research fit, cost of living in the city where the program is, etc.).
  18. It's pretty much wait it out I'm afraid. There's always hope though! This happened in a med program, not a clinical one, but I know of one school who went through it's entire waitlist one year and had to hit up the people they rejected to fill the rest of their seats. Strange things can happen when you're least expecting them!
  19. I am that applicant who rarely has questions (oops)....mostly I've memorized everything about the program from the website before the interview, and generally only want to know about things like mentorship style/collaboration. It's also really disheartening to hear that applicants who Skype interview are automatically penalized for it. It's just not always possible to physically get there for the interview...if you work full time.
