    I think the universities themselves usually get the results faster than the applicants, but I thought this was still happening in April.

    I got my acknowledgment email from Ottawa Friday afternoon.

    I went through 3 application cycles with rejections, and finally got accepted into a clinical PhD program the 4th time around. It's a hard process. It was so hard that the 4th was going to be my last, acceptance or not. I didn't even get any interviews my third time applying. I found that each application cycle with no acceptance continuously fuelled me into improving my application. I got more publications, I learned more advanced statistical techniques, I did some clinical skills workshops. I aimed to make myself as competitive as possible and it paid off for me. It's really easy to get obsessed with the process when you're waiting to hear back. My advice is to not constantly check your email or even this forum. Do things that make you happy. If do you get rejected, take some time to be sad, but then pick yourself back up and try again.

    I'm sorry. It's such a hard process. The most important thing is to be persist, continuously improve your application, and success will eventually come your way!

    That's why it's always good to check the CPA's website before you apply. UTSC should state that they're not yet accredited on the front page of the program site to be honest. They'll likely be accredited in a few years (along with UBC-O and the PsyD at Memorial) so it's not that big a deal.

    I heard back from my school shortly before I took off for break, and I'm being sent on to Ottawa!!

    This is my understanding too. I was told interviewing at APA-accredited programs that I could get accepted at either an APA- or CPA-accredited program in order to meet internship requirements.

    I'm a first year clinical psych student as well, who really appreciated these threads while applying previously. They're great for keeping up morale during this super stressful time. Good luck everyone!

    I've never had to submit a research proposal for any of the applications I've done. My advice would be to consult with the department's graduate assistant as they'll usually be able to clarify what should be submitted.

    I used Kaplan when I rewrote it last year. I was 4 years out of undergrad and found it sufficient to review what I knew and learn the basics of what I hadn't learned before (personal psych).

    I'm currently working on my application. This is my fourth time applying. I won the doctoral CGS two years ago, but had to decline because I wasn't admitted to a program. Hopefully I can make it work this year!

    From what I've heard, GRE aren't as heavily weighted in your application as much as other things (such as grades and research abilities). As a general rule, you'll want to have at least the 70th percentile in each section to get into a clinical program, although it's possible to get into programs if you have a lower mark in one subsection. I got into a clinical program and interviewed at two of the above schools last application cycle, and was only in the 55th percentile for the quantitative GRE section (I was above the 90th percentile though for verbal, analytic, and the psychology subject test though). Just try to do your best on the GRE and put more of your focus on developing a strong statement of interest for your applications.

    Carleton's MA program is terminal and they have a good social psych program (a lot of people stop with just the MA, but you have the option of moving onto the PhD). Most Canadian universities that I've seen that aren't combined MA/PhD programs have terminal Master's degrees (they admit with the expectance that you'll proceed to the PhD, but many don't anyways).

    FYI, applications for University of Regina are still open, and they apparently still have 2 open spots in the clinical program!!

    I'm starting my PhD in the fall, and I have ulcerative colitis. I flared really bad throughout the start of my Master's, and it really is scary and overwhelming.

    I wouldn't be able to do it if I did a bucket list for the province, but I'm doing one, mostly food based, for the city I live in, and for the surrounding area.

    Thank you! I got my rejection from UBCO this past Wednesday. I had applied for the MA and did not interview (one of the few programs I heard back from where I did not interview).
