Took a shot and applied to schools in BC and Alberta as well - was accepted to all 3 but I chose to stay closer to home and that way I can keep my job at 2 tertiary care hospitals in toronto. I accepted onsite as I've got a supervisor lined up for the thesis-based track, and I had to accept by April 1. Good luck with Lakehead, Victoria, and Waterloo! From what I've been told there isn't a huge difference, but doing the thesis based MPH will (allegedly) make it easier for you to pursue a Ph.D in the future. Of course if you're looking for a job specifically in public health research it may be in your favour to do the thesis-based MPH, but I was more or less told that I wouldn't be at a disadvantage for employment if I did one over the other.
