gummybear9 Posted February 5, 2019 Share Posted February 5, 2019 UC Davis hasn't confirmed the receipt of my itinerary and payment information (for reimbursement for the visit) and now I'm irrationally worried that they're going to be like "Sorry actually that was a mistake and you're not actually accepted." Indecisiv Posted February 6, 2019 Share Posted February 6, 2019 Does anybody here know how the Systems, Synthetic, and Physical Biology program at Rice compares to the Bioengineering program at Berkeley-UCSF? I'm real interested in Synthetic Biology research and have interviews at both schools, but don't know how the relevance and quality of these programs compare to each other. Victorious Secret Posted February 6, 2019 Author Share Posted February 6, 2019 Yes, the government shutdown has led to budget constraints at a number of schools because of uncertainty about NSF grants. My application has yet to be reviewed and they said it'll take them 6-8 weeks to review it so it puts the deadline to be Feb 15th.. I hope I am considered and not rejected even before the review. I'm sure it hurts worse for you since you had a Skype interview there and seemed much more passionate about the program. Everything is shaky at the moment. I got an email from a POI I mentioned in my SOP and was accepted the day after the phone interview. They sent me this: "This year our graduate program received a large number of applications for graduate study, and the applicant pool was extremely competitive.
