Two years ago my friend was accepted to the U of A mid-February. Last year I called their department mid-February asking when they expected to send out offers and they said they were sending them out later than usual because of a change of roles happening at the time. So maybe there's a chance we could find out earlier again this year.

Oh, okay! Thanks for clarifying, at least we know the wait is almost over. ??

I'm so glad he got it in on time!! I was thinking of you yesterday and hoping that he'd get it in on time. Thanks for updating me and letting me know about the reference due dates. In the screenshots that my references had sent there wasn't a date, but maybe there was an email that they hadn't shown to me. Either way, I'm just so glad that he was able to get it in on time for you! Best of luck, I seriously hope you get in! :)

Thank you so much!! Good luck to you too ? Now we wait!

Anyone care to share their sub-GPAs from ORPAS?? Or know what the average is for applicants accepted to Western? I feel like mine is somewhere around average (nothing outstanding but not too bad?) 3.61. Hopefully my other experiences help me stand out! Just curious to what everyone is going in with.

Yes the wait is already driving me crazy, my SGPA is a 3.54 but I'm trying to stay hopeful for Western (at this point I don't think there is even a chance I could get into uofT since it tends to have much higher SGPA ranges...)

I know Western claims that 3.3-3.5 is competitive but I'm not sure I really believe them...all other schools seem to want at least 3.7 if not higher...anyway need to stay hopeful!

According to ORPAS my subGPA is 3.84. However, @GenerationSpeechie mentioned that they contacted ORPAS who said that this wasn't our actual subGPA, and that it would be fixed/updated later in February. Based on the chart mine seems accurate (I think? lol) so I'm not sure what exactly they'd change.

Also, just something one of my supervisors told me that I think is useful/happy to keep in mind during this stressful time: we're finishing a degree! Not everyone gets the opportunity to complete an undergraduate degree, and we should be happy and proud of ourselves for that, regardless of our admissions results. Good luck everyone!! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for all :D

I am too! I don’t have the motivation to study because I’m constantly anxiously checking my email!

YES ?. The hardest part for me is not knowing when I will hear from U of A. At least I know the date the other schools are sending out their offers!

Hey! As it stands mine is currently posted as 3.69... it's lower than I expected and it's frustrating because many of the courses listed are in the 3.9 to 4.0 range but it averaged out to much lower. I applied to UofT, Western and McGill last year with a 3.55 I believe and I didn't get in.

You should feel very confident about your current SGPA, the range posted for some schools for the accepted class is usually a 3.8 so you're right there! Congrats!.

I'm surprised you didn't get in last year because Western typically accepts those with a subgpa ranging from 3.3-3.5/higher. Would you mind tell me what your stats were last year?

I'm at a 3.70 on ORPAS..

Last year, I kind of got screwed over.. I was completing my second degree and had only 19 classes, so they took my overall gpa from my first degree and added it as a 20th class instead of the last class or average of the last semester. Dropped it down to a 3.56. Didn't get in anywhere including McMasters, which I'm not applying to this year! Their minimum sgpa for the MMIs was 3.87.... crazy

I went to the MMIs last year and a few people said they had 3.80 or 3.81 sGPAs, so it wasn't a 3.87. Plus they could be even lower than that if that's what they were admitting. Who knows what it will be this year though.

I think the MMI cutoff was a 3.77 sGPA last year! I’d like to think there’s hope of it going down this year, but it seems like every year the GPA scores for every school gets higher and higher :(

On ORPAS, how many of your courses are listed under sub-GPA calculation? I'm a little puzzled bc mine shows 15, not 20 like I assumed it would.

I'm in my first year at McMaster, so I completed the MMIs last year - I believe the cut-off or lowest possible sub-gpa for an interview is about 3.77. However, last year, the average sub-gpa of those actually receiving interview offers was 3.85 (this is on their admissions website)!

Has anyone received any information or confirmation of application from UofT? At the beginning of January I received emails from Western and McMaster basically confirming that my applications had been submitted, but I haven't heard anything like that from UofT.

Last year I didn't hear anything from UofT until I got my rejection, which they email you and send you a nice letter in the mail about it haha

There wasn't a portal or anything though
