My application is deferred to the next round and will be considered with the full pool :( Anyone also in the same situation? Is there any chance to be admitted?

The good news is if there was not a chance they would have just rejected you not deferred

Yeah that's the only thing that not that upset. I guess maybe because my working experience is not enough, I am a currently undergraduate but every year they also take some undergraduates so I think that's fine. Hope to hear some good news in March and Chicago Harris :(

Yeah there’s still hope. I got into Harris last month and it’s looking more likely than SIPA rn because they actually gave me a scholarship and I have no idea what the financial situation is for SIPA

How competitive is SIPA?

Unfortunately, to my knowledge, SIPA does not publish detailed admissions statistics (like most MPP/MPA programs), so it's difficult to gauge relative selectivity. I can post my own stats if that would be helpful.

All I know is that SIPA is consistently ranked as part of the top 5 policy/international relations graduate schools, and has strong post-grad career placement.

My guess is that the M.I.A. (SIPA's flagship program) is slightly more selective than the M.P.A. given that SIPA is best known as an international affairs school and the M.I.A. is smaller (~200 students per class) vs. M.P.A. (~250 students). The M.I.A. has actually gone from ~350 students per year in the mid/late 2000s to ~200 per year in the present. My guesstimate would be 1/3 admitted for the former and upper 30s/lower 40s % for the latter.

Also noteworthy to mention that these applicant pools are self-selective so hypothetical admittance rates should be understood with that lens, it's a competitive process.

Hi guys, just continuing this thread for those that applied later since this is the only thread I found for SIPA. Congrats to the early applicants who have already been accepted!

Best of luck! Happy to answer any questions if helpful.

Just got my acceptance as well. No word on funding, but it mentions that I should hear in the next few weeks, so who knows.

Congrats! Any word on funding yet?

Thanks - and nope, assuming that if anything I'll hear around mid march when all decisions are out. Not holding my breath, though.

Hi guys, I was admitted to the fall 2020 MPA in the early action. I didn't have news on scholarships at the moment. Have you received any news on funding?

Not yet. I think they let everyone know when they have reviewed the January applications as well, since they are considering the people who applied early action as well as those who applied by the financial aid/scholarship deadline. Probably mid-March when general decisions come out.

Hello! A little late to the forum, but was wondering if there were any other Rangel/Pickering/Payne Fellows that have applied to SIPA this coming cycle? Always curious as to what kind of schools we all applied to, as well as where we will ultimately end up! Good luck to everyone!

No I submitted everything in early January

Ah sorry, for some reason I thought you meant Columbia SIPA (probably because it's all that's on my mind right now). I see from your signature that that's not the case.

Any news from SIPA you guys?

Not yet! Their website says mid-March, so I fear we'll have to wait another couple of weeks ?
