Do we think all the full-funding spots for NYU have gone out already? It seems like there was a spate of them on Draft yesterday...

I have no idea how these things work. Maybe?

Which program at NYU did you apply to? I did CNF. I have not yet lost hope, but if I don't hear something soon, I probably will assume it's bad news. Solidarity.

I have no idea either, and am probably feeling premature doom and gloom! I'm a fiction applicant. Solidarity indeed if no news comes soon..

HI everyone. I'm new to all of this - the forum, the applications, MFAs, the stress and anxiety, and the shorthand you all use for these programs.

I already have rejections from Cornell, Pittsburgh, and Wisconsin. I'm waiting to hear (for fiction) from the Stegner Fellowship, NYU, Brown, Iowa, Virginia, and McNeese State. Is there any reason for me to continue to hope, or is it unlikely that I'll get in if I haven't heard from them yet?

I also applied to UVA and I think they notify at the end of March. There's time for that school at least!

Hi there. Just pop in to say we have 5 schools in common (per 6 I applied to) haha. also rejected from Cornell and desperately waiting for others, though I start loosing hope and finding ways to cope with the scenario of being rejected by all of them. :(((

I got an email from John D'Agata asking to schedule a phone call. I'm assuming (hoping) that it's good news! :)

I don't think Iowa NWP does interviews or calls waitlisters, right?

(Adding: it makes sense that he would email me b/c my American phone is offline, lol)

Woo!!! Congrats I’d say that’s a very good indication!

and yes! I’m so excited to meet others going the same place as me!

Man, I've been handling my anxiety pretty well this season -- up until this week. I'm scared of this process dragging out until April 15th.

That would be the absolute worst thing....it's the last week of February and we should have been done with this process already! Ugh.

I thought universities made their decisions in March. Isn't Feb way too early for all these decisions?

I got those rejections two weeks ago, and since then, I've been feeling that no news is good news. If they haven't rejected me yet, maybe I still have a chance.

It really depends on the school. Fully funded programs tend to take longer, double for "brand-name" ones.

Some people do get lucky enough to have a top choice offer by now, which is what makes it so tough. You're right, though: not knowing by this stage isn't necessarily a bad thing.

New here. Anxious af waiting on Brown, Virginia Tech, and U of New Orleans. Just here to commiserate as we all stew in anxiety.

@klgrad

I'm also waiting on VT. Feeling a little less nervous about that one since it was a reach to begin with. I'd be excited just to get an interview!

It's one of my top choices. See you were also posting about genre programs? VT has at least two current students that write speculative. I submitted a fantasy piece for my apps. I'm all fingers crossed for VT.

Yeah, that's why I decided to apply despite the intense competition! I also appreciated that the students /and/ faculty are more diverse than the average MFA program.

Same! Good luck to you! Hopefully we hear something soon. Looks like they notified around this time last year :)

Literally JUST saw that they started notifying via Draft. Fingers crossed for both of us!

Any idea when Boston sends out the notifications?

Probably later than other schools because there deadline was later. I assume it'll be around early or mid march.

I just get in the Draft but stop reading the posts after 30 secs haha. Just outside my window the entroido (carnaval) is happening right now in Spain. Well all I can do is to leave all behind. 'Tráeme el alcohol que quita el dolor. Hoy vamos a juntar la luna y el sol'. they're playing Subeme la radio haha. I think it's best to go with Spanish spirit. =))

This wait is driving me INSANE. My productivity is at an all time low. Does anyone have any news on what is going on with IWW Fiction? There are six acceptances posted so far but those were posted last week. Granted, I understand not everyone is on gradcafe. I wonder if they've already finished notifying acceptances...

By the way, reading these posts have been such a comfort! Thank you all for sharing this excruciating time with me lol
