Would love any info you might have to sway me or to hear what you're thinking. Hi! Congrats on your acceptances! I was also accepted into smith and am trying to do some more research and see what other folx might be thinking about it who also got in. I've already paid my deposit and will most likely stick with it, but I also got into UMich, Columbia, SFSU (title ive stipend program). Still waiting on Berkeley and UPenn (interview is coming up). Did you decide between Hunter or Smith yet?

I'm not likely to change my decision (this was definitely the best fin aid I received so far and I can't imagine another program being able to beat it, except for perhaps SFSU). I haven't heard back from all my schools yet (still waiting on Berkeley, UPenn; accepted into UMich, Columbia, SFSU), so am just wanting to be absolutely sure about my decision >< lol Did you decide if you'll live on campus for the summer? It didn't feel like we got a whole lot of time to process the options before we were asked to submit the housing form, but I currently put down that I'd like to live on campus.

Luisa206 Posted February 26, 2021 Posted February 26, 2021 Has anyone on this thread applied to Seattle U? I heard back today and want to gauge if the amount of scholarship $ I was offered is decent or not.

Congrats on Columbia, UMich, and SFSU! All great options. Yes, I agree that the housing form came out super quick and I think I am going to work some this spring and summer and save up money for the move to Massachusetts in the Fall, so I will be doing virtual. But I am sure living on campus will be a great way to get integrated quickly! Where did you get placed for your field placement??

That sounds like a great plan! Anything that helps to lessen debt and costs sounds really smart I was really excited to be moving to campus this summer and learn in person and so was feeling a little disappointed to learn that we'll be going virtual this summer (though I understand why). I'm actually a little worried that not many people (especially in our cohort) will opt into on-campus housing and that it'll feel lonely and isolating while operating under the quarantine/social distancing modes. That on top of the usual COVID concerns ? I think I may have to let this decision sink in a little. I live in the Bay Area so I've requested to return back to Nor Cal for my internship placement. It sounds like you'll be in MA? Also, may I ask what lead you to chose Smith over your other schools? I'm new to this platform and not sure if I'm taking up too much space on this thread, so feel free to DM me instead (is that an option?)
juliana12345 Posted February 27, 2021 Posted February 27, 2021 This may be a long shot- did anyone here apply to NC State? Wondering if they have heard yet
raesin19 Posted February 27, 2021 Posted February 27, 2021 So I was under the assumption that I couldn't apply to Hunter until the Feb 1 date (and a Hunter staff person in an info session said that applications submitted before that date wouldn't be considered before/prioritized) so I held my Columbia app back so I would hopefully hear back from both places around the same time. Now I'm stressed that I put myself at the "bottom of the barrel" for both schools. Did anyone else apply late Jan/Early Feb? I also heard there are more applications to social work programs this year than in past years (probably related to COVID) so I'm nervous that I only applied to 3 schools and am working on submitting a last-minute app to NYU. Do you think applying to a school now is a lost cause because it's TRULY bottom of the barrel? I know none of us have these answers but would appreciate any insights people have. Thanks! Antsmarch 1

I absolutely love the city of San Francisco and the campus as well. I also am looking to go into child welfare after I graduate and their program offers some good classes for that. Furthermore, the bay area has tons of opportunities for field work and job opportunities, so I feel like it's a great place to become involved with the community and have a great choice of potential social work experiences while in school, and after it as well. Their website doesn't have too much information unfortunately, and I'm not sure how research focused they are, but I'm looking to go into the clinical route so I feel as if it's a good match for me! Hi fiofarrell17, so excited i got accepted to SFSU yesterday night (UK) hope you recieve good news too!!

Hunter extended their deadline until April 1st I believe. Also I don’t believe CUNY schools allow you to defer applications so anyone who got in last year and didn’t want to come because of COVID would have to apply all over. Looking at last year applications ppl were receiving acceptance well into the summer for fall 2020. Don’t stress just complete the apps ASAP sonalikm and Antsmarch 2
Minhessica Posted February 28, 2021 Posted February 28, 2021 In your essays for MSW programs did anyone write about a professor they specifically wanted to work with?
Maklemoyer Posted February 28, 2021 Posted February 28, 2021 Hi everyone, I’m new here but I was wondering if anyone applied to any Pennsylvania schools beyond Bryn Mawr and UPenn? I was waitlisted at BU which was my top choice and now I’m deciding between Pitt and West Chester. My decision deadlines are coming up and I’m pretty stuck so I would love to hear from anyone who applied to these schools or knows more about their programs!

So @raesin19, I wouldn't be too scared about giving off a "bottom of the barrel" vibe getting your application into them soon. In general, I would encourage you to submit any apps to any programs you're interested in that still have their portals open. It's not guaranteed they will review your app or accept you, but if you don't submit, they CERTAINLY will not - you know what I mean? Good luck! Gradguy11218 1

I did already submit to Columbia, Hunter, and BU so I'm glad those are in and done. I am finishing the NYU app now and they actually did say they recommend the earlier deadlines (so they may take a bottom of the barrel approach) but I figured it doesn't hurt to give myself another chance even if I might have disadvantaged myself by applying late. Best of luck to everyone. I really appreciate that this forum exists! Makes the waiting process a little less painful. annadreams 1

When I spoke to the admissions people, they said to just answer the questions that they are asking you to answer. When I was in contact with UMich, the first thing that I was told that the admissions people look for can you follow directions, are you clear in your intentions, and can you answer the questions being posed. This is the advice I was given and I followed. Other schools basically gave the same advice. Edited March 1, 2021 by ZippyZup123 Antsmarch and Minhessica 2
