Unfortunately, when someone enters information into the draft, there's no telling how long it's been between being notified and filling out the form on the draft. It sounds like a Woody Allen movie: I am dyslexic and have ADHD and write. I have hit a wall with my memoir that introduces hospice care for pets as an alternative to euthanasia. I need to elevate my craft to the quality of my stories! FWIW when I inquired to programs about applying, they all said they would welcome an application like mine. But, also, as many have said here : it’s about the writing first. 90% mine needs help, so you have to be in some institution-specific definition of showing excellent chance of being a successful writer, great promise at least, and benefiting from the degree. On the other hand, I cannot imagine them saying someone who is already an accomplished writer is “too good” to be admitted! Good luck to everyone. You are committed to your writing by even subjecting yourself to this traumatic process! I, for one, defined precisely WHY I write, and WHAT I WANT TO SAY after writing 7 SOP! womanonline Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Been in kind of a funk since getting these three rejections, and today I reread Letters to a Young Poet by Rilke. It’s been awhile. I love that it seems to always hold true for me that I read a book when I’m supposed to. And truly this one helped me both feel more confident in my craft and more accepting of myself and what’s to come (or not). I might need to read it a few more times as this process unfolds, but it helped me today. Recommending Spicy Potato, meanwhile, gupppy and 5 others 6 2

Please don't take any rejection personally, there are way too much applicants and only a few spots. womanonline and meanwhile 2

Does a phone call/email really help yield if everyone is doing it? marsmentality 1

Does a phone call/email really help yield if everyone is doing it? i understand the personal touch being compelling and exciting for folks getting in... i personally feel like a call to accepted folks and a blanket email to everyone after is what makes the most sense. best of both worlds: they get to be personal, and we get less freaked. i wonder if they are aware of the draft community and how stressful it is for applicants, and whether that would make any difference in their notification practices. maybe folks who get in can bring it up! i'm not thinking i'll get the chance this time around 🙃 SocialKonstruct 1

strawberrymatcha Posted February 13 Posted February 13 definitely agree with everyone!! not 100% sure if it’s true but iirc on GradCafe last year someone said that some schools still had to individually queue up emails which is why they had to send them in batches… but it’s 2026 lol so I really hope they change that

Just looked at last year's thread, seems like acceptances didn't come out until Feb. 21...
