I know a lot of people applying for Ph.D programs have heard back, but what about masters programs? My deadline was Jan 1st for my favorite school (Boston College), and judging by the survey results, almost all the people that have heard back from BC are Ph.D applicants.

How long does it usually take to hear back from schools? And who has already heard back?

Only yesterday was I notified of the first decision -- and my applications were submitted in late October (although one of my letter writers submitted close to the deadlines). PhD programs rely more heavily on interviews and funding needs to be secured, so I assume the timetable for most Masters programs isn't as urgent. If there's one thing I've learned from this ordeal, it's that every program and every school operates uniquely. Some can release decisions every week for 5 straight weeks and others will release all decisions on one day.

Hopefully you'll hear something soon!

I have heard back from 3 schools. 2 were rolling admissions so I expected to hear back sooner from them but I was (pleasantly) surprised Columbia sent out emails on Friday for their Counseling M.Ed. admissions. I have heard that BC LSoE sent out emails for their Mental Health Counseling program as well but I applied there and haven't gotten anything. Hope this helps :)

I'm applying for environment masters programs (most of my application deadlines were Dec and Jan)- some schools that I didn't apply to have sent out their results already, but no word from those that I've applied to. No update from the results survey either, so I'm still keeping my fingers crossed.

I applied to 2 phd and 4 masters programs and have only heard back from phd. Not a peep from the other schools.

Yeah, it makes sense for masters programs to be lower on the priority list at schools. I've applied to 7 and heard back from 3 (2 admits (1 of which is rolling admissions) and 1 interview invite thus far). The other 4 programs all had deadlines in January and February with estimated response times being mid March. It's still early days, though it doesn't feel like it!

I applied to 4 M.S. programs and one doctoral program. Application deadlines ranged from January 6 until February 1. I haven't heard anything yet - torture!

Good luck! K

I applied to seven Master's programs and have heard back from two. The two that I heard back from historically respond earlier (one had a specific "early decision" option), but across the board, March seems to be the decision month for my field. I'm hoping it will be earlier in the month, but two of the seven seem to respond the very last week of March :(. Seems so late when we have to make decisions by April 15th.

I've heard from two Masters and I'm still waiting on two Masters and a PhD. I'm trying soooo hard not to let it get to me.

I applied to 5 Master's programs and I've heard back from 2. However, I was under the impression that PhD programs notified candidates first, but I could be wrong, it may be program-dependent.

One had rolling admissions so I heard end of January, but the rest had a deadline of Jan 10 (1)/15(2) and I am supposed to hear "4-6 weeks" from there. Looks like all will be coming in this week (so nerve wracking!) The only program that offered a PhD track was the rolling admissions program so it isn't a priority-determined situation.

I only applied to one school; the app deadline was (originally) February 1st (it's since been changed to March 1st???), and my app was officially complete in their system January 23rd (didn't decide I was applying to social work until late in the game; I had been working on the apps for other programs all the way back in September then abandoned them in November/December). They have rolling admissions with a projected decision timeline of two to four weeks from the time your app is completed, I heard back around Week 3. I'm sure it depends on the program.

No word from any master's program i applied to. From past posts in the results survey, i should hear something this coming week or next...the anticipation is making me crazy!

I applied to 5 MA programs in the states and haven't heard a thing from any of them. I've had much more communication for my 2 apps in the UK - they just move a bit quicker over there, I guess.

I haven't heard back from any of my programs, but based on the results postings from last year I'm not expecting to hear until the first week of March at the earliest. I would suggest searching your schools and program on the results board to get a rough idea of when they notified applicants last year.

I haven't heard back from any of the programs, but I'm right in the time-frame where they usually sent out word. So I just have normal freak out level, nothing specially extra yet :-P

So far I have heard back from two programs: one for which I did an interview (will not heard back about admission until next month)an another for which I was accepted through an early decision program. I have not heard back from the other three schools I applied to yet. The deadline for one is not even until March 1st, but I should be hearing back soon from the other two. It's really hard. Every day that I don't receive an e-mail, or mail, or a phone call, I get more and more neurotic. Then again, realistically speaking (based on when they said they would have decisions) I have no reason to think I should know yet. I really understand where you're coming from, but hang in there. I'm definitely jealous of all the PhD applicants who don't have to wait much longer to find out!

According to the results survey, acceptances sent out around mid March... potentially only 3 weeks more of waiting! Haha

Applied to 3 MS programs. Accepted to 2 (12/1 and 1/31) - both rolling admissions. The last school will send out their acceptances in mid March (app was due 12/15).

So far only accepted to DU for GFTEI program. Super happy about that but still hate the waiting! Do you think Oxford will take until May to respond? I thought I read that responses should come the very tip end of March onwards. I just hope its sooner in April so we don't cut it close with some of the reserve deadlines.

Applied to 3 schools.  Interviewed at 2.  I'm waitlisted at one of those 2 and suspect I'm waitlisted at the other one as well.  Haven't heard back from 1 at all (even though I know they do interviews... but apparently they're still reviewing apps? and I have no idea when interview invites will be sent. rawr. I just want a little security!)
