MSW13 Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 Congratulations Kreamy!!! Good luck with Laurier since that is your first choice. I chose the gerontology stream, how 'bout you? CONGRATULATIONS MSW13!!! I am very happy for you. I received my offer of admission from UofT today too. My first choice is Laurier though so I will wait to see if they will extend any offers to me in the next 4 weeks. If not I will be seeing you in class in September! By the way, which stream are you in?
ltr Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 (edited) Does anyone know how many people get in for each stream? (U of T Advanced Standing). I've been wait-listed for the health and mental health stream. Straight A's in my final year. Completed the Research Methodology course with an A. Two social work placements through my BSW and various other employment/volunteering/leadership positions. I've also done a lot of research (social work, psychology and designed and conducted my own research study). Trying to put the pieces together. Any info regarding the wait-list and whether or not people actually get accepted afterwards would be greatly appreciated Edited March 8, 2013 by ltr
MSW13 Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 Wow, you got waitlisted with straight A's??!! That is pretty shocking! Sorry to hear that as I am sure it is disappointing. Although I highly doubt you will have any problem gaining full admission to Ryerson. The thing about U of T is that they do not have an assigned number of spots per stream. They have a total number of students that they admit overall and create larger/smaller classes in each stream to reflect those numbers. I know that the Mental Health stream is pretty popular as is Children and Their Families so these would likely have more numbers overall. Does anyone know how many people get in for each stream? MaybeMSW Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 ltr, I'm sorry you have been wait-listed. I still don't know where I stand at the moment. From an Info Session that I attended last summer. Popularity of their specialization in terms of the number of applicants: 1. Mental Health and Health 2. Children and their Families 3. Gerontology 4. Social Justice and Diversity 5. Social Service Administration Applications for the Advanced Standing: 280 applicants, 90 applicants are accepted.
Kreamy Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Thanks! I am in Health and Mental Health. I'll follow up with my specialization application once I finalize my decision too. I chose Addiction studies. There is a very high likelihood I will choose UofT because my partner will be going to OCAD... Congratulations Kreamy!!! Good luck with Laurier since that is your first choice. I chose the gerontology stream, how 'bout you?
MSW13 Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Congrats to your partner! I would love to go to OCAD....if I had a creative bone in my body I see from you signature that you've been waitlisted at Laurier....the god's are telling you to choose U of T!!! Thanks! scotto123 Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Anyone hear anything back from Ryerson or York yet? (1 yr MSW). I know York always takes their sweet time, but just wondering about Ryerson as well...
meg333 Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Anyone hear from university of calgary??? Nope, nothing yet! Getting realllly anxious
cmarie_ Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Anyone hear anything back from Ryerson or York yet? (1 yr MSW). I know York always takes their sweet time, but just wondering about Ryerson as well... Hi Scotto123! I've also applied to the Advanced Standing MSW at York, and am dreading the wait - you're right, I've heard they do take their sweet time. Let me know if you hear anything! Hope you also hear back from Ryerson soon too. And congrats on being waitlisted!
nugget Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Congrats to MSW13 and Kreamy on getting accepted. That is wonderful news! I am glad to see that you are still on the website for the time being. The both of you have given us good insight and inspiration over the past couple of months and I hope you still be online when the 2 yr applicants get their results (which won't be long now - eek!!) Jax14 Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 I emailed Ryerson's graduate admissions department and was told responses will start to be sent end of March or early April. The wait is killing me already!
Jax14 Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Anyone hear anything back from Ryerson or York yet? (1 yr MSW). I know York always takes their sweet time, but just wondering about Ryerson as well... Here's the email response I got from Ryerson: The earliest you would hear anything about admissions decisions is late March, early April. Kind of irritates me that that's all I get from them as a response.

DreamingMSW Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Hey everyone! I'm new here. In the waiting game for 2 year MSW at U of T and Laurier.
Must_Love_Dogs_88 Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 I am new as well! (Long time reader ) Also in the anxious wait for 2 year msw at u of t, WLU, Windsor and York!
beth23 Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Can we expect to hear back regarding the 2 year program later than "early April" as many are still waiting to hear back from the 1 year program?
DreamingMSW Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 (edited) @Must_Love_Dogs_88 Haha yeah I have been reading for a WHILE. I started reading last year's forum in November or so. PS you say you think you are waitlisted for Carleton. Mind me asking why you are not sure? Edited March 13, 2013 by DreamingMSW

I started reading last year's forum in November or so. PS you say you think you are waitlisted for Carleton. Mind me asking why you are not sure? Well I'm just being naive and hopeful lol. I did get the email from admissions saying I was on the wait list but my online status still says "under review" I'm not sure if this will ever update though? My first choice is u of t or York so that I would be in Toronto But the wait list at Carleton definitely discouraged me
Hopeful111 Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 heyy does anyone know what the application status "recommended for acceptance' for windsor means!?
pbaid Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Finally got a call from U of T today that I’ve been offered admission. Funding and other details to follow soon via snail mail
scotto123 Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 heyy does anyone know what the application status "recommended for acceptance' for windsor means!? Pretty sure it means you have been accepted, and they're just finalizing your offer of admission. Don't take what I say for truth though.
