Isabel Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Ryerson is done, their recommendations were due last Friday Does anyone know if the first round of offers for the clinical program at Ryerson have been sent out?!
Generic_Applicant Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Does anyone know if the first round of offers for the clinical program at Ryerson have been sent out?! A few of us are waiting, holding our breaths. Have you interviewed too? My POI told me 10 days from the time of my interview which was on the 21st.

3minutes Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Ryerson is done, their recommendations were due last Friday Are you sure? Because multiple faculty members said recommendations go in some time this week...
student896 Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 (edited) Are you sure? Because multiple faculty members said recommendations go in some time this week... For Clinical, they went in Jan 23. I work with a professor at Ryerson and he checked his email right in front of me to get the date. They could have decided as a group to extend this date, but I doubt it. Edit: Just because recommendations went in then, does not mean offers will be made yet. It just means profs had to rank their first, second, third, etc choices. Now the department will have to decide who gets to take a student, so it could be some time until actual offers are made. Edited January 30, 2015 by student896

Oh, I see. So the meeting is to decide who gets a student and who doesn't then?
student896 Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 I believe so, yes. Not every prof at Ryerson who wants a student will be able to take one due to seniority, funding, etc. So I think even if you are your POI's top choice, there is no guarantee of an offer. I think now that interviews are over they will be "battling it out" to see who gets to take one.
PsychedOut30 Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Just heard from my POI at Toronto hear about my decision in the next two weeks but nothing has been extended including interviews

reihino Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Hey everyone, long time lurker. Finally posting! Does anybody know anything about McGill? My application hasn't budged from being "in review". Judging by above posts I'm assuming I won't be hearing my Ryerson any time soon... Otherwise, I've interviewed at Guelph and Dalhousie now so I guess the rest is a waiting game!
Tolman's Rat Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Haven't seen much discussion of cognitive programs here, but I've been accepted at Western Cognition & Perception (Mind & Brain Institute) and at McMaster Cognitive Science of Language. If anyone has any questions about these programs, feel free to contact me.
student896 Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Do you know how long that will take and when we should expect to hear? Sorry, no idea! Just heard from my POI at Toronto hear about my decision in the next two weeks but nothing has been extended including interviews OISE? Could you say which program? Judging by above posts I'm assuming I won't be hearing my Ryerson any time soon... Otherwise, I've interviewed at Guelph and Dalhousie now so I guess the rest is a waiting game! Are you an international student? Just wondering because I was told everyone being considered at Guelph is attending the all-day interview on Monday. So, you won't be attending that? Did you have a skype interview? And when did you interview at Dal? Was it through skype? Thanks!

My POI at Dal contacted me for a Skype interview in mid-Jan, she had already shortlisted applicants she was interested in. I was told that the department was meeting to look at the applications two fridays ago and I believe that offers were supposed to be made after that? I haven't heard anything since, which makes me nervous! I saw that someone on the results page has been accepted at Dalhousie. If that poster sees this, would you mind PMing me your POI? I am so curious! Thank you!!

I saw that too about Dal on the results page! Makes me very nervous. I contacted my POI at Dal last Saturday, and she replied on Sunday (Jan 25) that applications were still being reviewed and interviews still being extended, so I figured I didn't have to worry :/ Well I guess that is a lost cause for me! lol. I appreciate the info tho!

I got the feeling my POI contacted her shortlist very early, and wouldn't be surprised if applications were still being reviewed by the department. She did tell me that I could hear back about a decision as early as late Jan to or later in mid March. I think it just depends on so many different things. Don't sweat it yet Edited January 30, 2015 by reihino

Tacoma Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 (edited) Anyone heard anything from U of Victoria? Also, it seems that most interview invites for Western have already been made. The interview weekend is next week. I received my official offer for the experimental program at UVic on Jan. 30 after receiving an unofficial offer from my potential supervisor in December. You can also check on the status of your application on the UVic application page (https://www.uvic.ca/BAN2P/bzsklogn.p_display_login) but it is a bit slow to update. LebaneseKafta Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 The wait sometimes is almost unbearable... it's just this constant thing on the back of your mind always until you hear something
skyfullofstars Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Congratulations to the individual who received an interview with the DCT at Ryerson!! Could you please PM your POI?
FacelessMage Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 The wait sometimes is almost unbearable... it's just this constant thing on the back of your mind always until you hear something I hear you. I'm trying to distract myself by doing everything else I can (thesis, exercise, Netflix), but it's always sitting there at the back of my mind.
Generic_Applicant Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Does anyone know about the clinical suitability interviews at Ryerson? Apparently someone got an email for one but my POI said nothing about it during my interview.. Do all students go through it to get an offer or only ones without much clinical experience.. ?
toastytoast Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Does anyone know about the clinical suitability interviews at Ryerson? Apparently someone got an email for one but my POI said nothing about it during my interview.. Do all students go through it to get an offer or only ones without much clinical experience.. ? I've never heard of a clinical suitability interview at Ryerson. If they are doing them, they are either brand new or incredibly rare. An interview with the DCT is also not be default a clinical suitability interview. Sometimes POIs will have their top candidates interview with other faculty members in order to get a second opinion.
Generic_Applicant Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Oh. That's kind of good news, in that Im not too worried about not having a DCT interview then. When did you interview/ start the program Toastytoast? I don't think everyone will have a clinical suitability interview prior to offers... I hope this is right. This might also be what is keeping offers from going out. Hopefully it is done soon and offer go out next week!
FliesKites Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Thanks Mandy P. for creating this thread! I've found it much more useful than the general threads already and finally decided to create an account as a result (I've been a devoted lurker and poster on the results pages). Just thought I'd pop in, say hi, and wish everyone luck! I'm really on a roller coaster of emotions with these applications... I've had a couple interviews and even after one goes very well I still feel like a ball of nerves only days later. Lexifer 1
