Congrats! I got one too, but alas I will not be seeing you there--it's the same weekend as Penn State's, and they already bought me a ticket. Such short notice!

I'll see you at Penn State!

Just got rejected from Duke...email directing me to the website where they posted a letter...oh well...one of my professors just submitted his letter of rec on 1/25..wondering if that had any effect on my application..likely not but still quite annoyed with him.

I just saw on the results page that Yale had 10,400 applicants?!? How is that possible? Bad economy and all, I'd be surprised if that many people applied worldwide for history PhD's this year, let alone to one Ivy, especially since about 900 or so history PhD's get awarded every year in the US. Am I crazy for thinking that?

They just put that number there to impress us. That's the number of applications for the entire Yale graduate school this year! and my first rejection. But that's ok, it was a long shot all along!

Anyone hear anything from Indiana yet? According to results search, last few years acceptances went out in the first week of February.

Maybe thrown off course by Snowmageddon?

Haha, that makes sense. Sorry about the rejection, I'm sure you'll end up somewhere just as good.

I don't think Indiana got hit by the storm. I'm waiting to hear from them too. Here in DC it's a bloody mess.

Also, got my first rejection: Yale.

No Yale for me, either. I was expecting a waitlist perhaps, but outright rejection. :(

Same boat here. Either the mass rejection email is taking it's time dispersing, we're in and haven't been informed yet, or we're in the actual Yale purgatory.

For those of you waiting for Georgetown - according to the website the admissions committee meets on Feb. 12. Unless snowmageddon/snowpocalypse strikes again!

(I'm a bit of a lurker; I'm waiting for my fiance's results...)

Got the official Yale rejection. Not surprised, surmised it was coming. I can kind of breathe easier now. They had 10,400 applicants for graduate studies this year! Amazing.

Excellent!

In NYU news, I have a phone meeting with the department chair tomorrow to figure out a time to fly me up for my own mini prospective meeting. I mean, this is good, right? They wouldn't haul me all the way up from Florida by myself if I didn't have a decent shot, right?

Maybe I'm overthinking this.

Hey, did anyone else who applied to Michigan get a way to check their application status? I know that they aren't supposed to report for a few weeks still, but I never received a confirmation number or something like that.

I can answer that question. One day after I submitted my application I got an email from gradacknowledge@umich.edu notifying me of everything I had to do to sign up for a UM Friend account. The email had all the steps included, as well as the ID number you're asking about. I know it is a little hard to find it in the email, but it should be on the third line down. From then on, just follow what they tell you to do and you should be alright.

I've applied to Michigan. You can't check your application status online. But the department is very, very organized and will let you know if anything's missing. If you get accepted or waitlisted, you'll get an e-mail (supposedly) from your potential advisor. Rejectees get postal mail.

I've applied to Michigan as well, and I can access this Wolverine Access stuff where you can actually click on a link that says "application status" and has all my application information there. I don't know whether that will notify me of acceptance/rejection, but it's where that email guided me. Try it yourself, I guess. I don't have all the answers.

For other people applying to OSU, has your status changed from evaluation? I saw that one result posting that someone's status is now acadreview, and was wondering if that had happened to anyone else, and whether I should be worried that my status hasn't changed.

Nope, I'm still on evaluation. I think academic review is the same thing, unless I'm wrong.

OSU usually gets out later anyway, from my understanding.

Actually, last year they sent an email for rejections. Michigan is a kind, considerate department who said normally they send letters but since they had taken so long they decided to send out an email and put people out of their misery. If I have to be rejected by anyone, it would be Michigan- they reject you with style, sophistication and class.
