    Hi! Congrats on being accepted!! I'm currently in the May 2021 cohort at Speech@Baylor. Classes are offered in afternoons and evenings. You have asynchronous assignments due the day before your live classes, but they are doable Working is doable as well. I'm on the part-time track so I am able to continue working full-time until I start my clinic placements. Message me if you have more questions!

    Hi! I think it's important to have a balance of school, work, and extracurricular activities. Getting into a grad program in California is extremely competitive, but that does not mean it is impossible. I have some friends from my undergrad program including myself who got into grad school who did not have a 3.9 CSD GPA. It depends on where you apply, the program's application process/review, who writes your recommendation letters, and your personal statement. I graduated in 6 years, I chose that route because it helped me long-term prepare for my major courses. I took 2 CSD courses each semester and that worked for me. I got into an online program with a 3.3 CSD GPA (3.6 last 60 units-so I made that clear in my essay) with below average GRE scores. My story shows you don't need super high grades/stats to get into grad school. I believe CSD advisors wouldn't recommend double majoring because CSD is a rigorous program and it requires a lot of time, dedication, and preparation for graduate-level courses. I'm sure it has been done, I'm not trying to discourage you. Minoring in gerontology is great! Also know your limits. You don't want to spread yourself thin and your grades and your health suffering as a result. I think if you have a game plan and stay on top of all your school work (double-major or not), you'll be okay! Graduating in 4.5 years will not look bad to a graduate committee. I graduated in 6 years lol..They will focus on your application itself (grades/transcripts, GRE scores, essays, recommendation letters). If you choose to double-major, good luck and stay on top of everything! Start your stuff early Let me know if you have questions!!

    Hello everyone! I'm starting grad school in a week (summer start) and I'm wondering how current and past graduate students do with note-taking? I tried typing notes in class one semester during undergrad and it didn't work out for me (slow typer and I don't type "properly" lol). I've been a pen to paper kid, but I'm curious about using an iPad and pen. 3/4 of my textbooks are ebooks this term since it was the cheapest route. One thing I would like to do is write on the pages of my ebooks. I also want to mention I'm a part-time student, 2 classes per term. Looking forward to reading your experiences, etc

    Good for you for talking about your experiences and warning others! One of my close friends had a friend/classmate who went to Chapman for their master's program and said they were not happy with their experience.

    I received an acceptance yesterday afternoon! I'm conflicted as I have committed to my top choice. MWU has a great program and it's 30 minutes from me, but it's pricy and full-time ?

    Hi! Congratulations on getting an interview! Everything is virtual. We completed a 30-minute writing sample (camera's on) where we received prompts in the chat, wrote the essay on a word document, and emailed it to the admissions counselor. We were called in groups of 3 doing individual interviews. They give you 15 minutes. It was relaxed and the professors want to get to know you and what inspires you to pursue a career as an SLP. I'd prepare a list of questions to help you prep and questions for them as well. Good luck!! Be confident and own it

    Hi! Congrats on your interviews. I've completed 2 interviews and I was asked questions like "What made you want to pursue a career as an SLP?" and "Why do you want to attend ___ University." I recommend googling interview questions to start and work your way from there Definitely think about your answers beforehand and know what you want to share with those interviewing you. I had to complete a time writing sample as well. I had 2 options: write about a time you experienced failure or write about your experience working with diverse populations. Lastly. Be confident and own it! Let me know if you have more questions!

    Hi! I had my interview on Friday. The whole interview day went pretty well! I was a part of the first group to be interviewed. The faculty who interviewed me were welcoming and asked me questions I was ready to answer lol.. I was kind of nervous, but I think it went well. I think I did okay on writing sample too. Overall, I walked away from the experience feeling positive What was the interview process like for you and when did you find out about your admission status?

    Very awesome! Thanks for the tips My GPA and GRE scores aren't anything to brag about. They're not strong but I plan to talk about my work and tie them into speech path.

    Hi everyone! I received an invite to interview with MWU in Glendale. I'm excited since this is my second time applying. I was on the interview waitlist the first time and my GRE stats are higher now. What should I expect (questions, suggestions, advice) and what will help prepare me? The interview will be virtual, so it saves a trip to the school. Thank you

    I understand feeling isolated and loneliness takes a toll on one's well-being. You gotta do what is best for you. If I were in your shoes, I could see myself doing the same thing. Always put yourself first. You shouldn't feel guilty for putting your mental health etc first. Best of luck to you! Congrats on getting into the NYU online program

    Do you have to resend your college transcripts to CSDCAS if you previously applied using their system? I applied in 2018. Not sure if I need to do this. I have green checks on everything and I'm able to submit an application. EDIT: I got my question answered!

    Hi! I just have a question for y'all. I'm working on my personal statement. I'm thinking about including a small paragraph about my late grandmother. She became sick after I graduated with my bachelor's and me and my mother took care of her until she passed on a few years ago. She passed away while I was applying to grad schools for the first time. I decided to continue applying anyway. Honestly I wasn't in the best head space back then, but I'm doing a lot better overall now. Do you think it's relevant to include this in my essay? Would it take away from the whole thing? I know it's not related to the field, but it was an experience that made me stronger as a person. I'd appreciate advice, feedback, etc. Thanks in advance ?

    Hi! It looks like I won't have letters from CSD professors. I was starting to feel insecure too, but I'm doing better. Of course I'm disappointed, but I'm satisfied with my recommenders. I have letters from my supervisor, SPED teacher, and SPED professor all whom I have solid relationships with. I do agree, quality is very important! They will help make or break your application.

    Hey! I hope you gained more recommenders. I asked a special ed teacher I worked with and one of my sped professors. I wasn't able to get in touch with one SLP professor and I'm going to get in touch with another professor this weekend. Long story short I'm 10 on the waitlist and I told her I wanted to stay on the list and ask her again at the end of the month..
